USS TEXAS  BB ~ 35
DREADNOUGHT

The
Battleship TEXAS is the last dreadnought in existence in the world.  She was launched on May 18th, 1912 -a veteran of Vera Cruz (1914) and both World Wars.  The USS TEXAS is currently berthed at San Jacinto State Historical Park near Houston Texas - where she is undergoing restoration and renewal to restore her to full active duty condition and status.

The battleship is open to the public year round and is a living museum of our maritime and naval history.

We hope you enjoy this tour, photos by Spike Mike - a FTV (First Texas Volunteer) who is actively involved in the restoration  project - scraping rust, painting, identifying, cataloging and preserving items aboard ship, scrambling up ladders to assist in dressing the ship - and pitching in on many ongoing projects aboard the USS Texas.

For more information about the restoration project, visit the USS Texas Web Site - link posted below - and stay tuned here for additional photos and updates from Spike Mike!

*Note:  Our thoughts, prayers and gratitude go out in support for our men and women in the Armed Services of the United States of America.  May you safely discharge your missions and safely return to your beloved home.
