Things seem back to normal. The problem with app_info.xml was some kind of breakage of the anonymous platform with a new version of BOINC that was installed on the new server. They fixed it and the work units are pouring in with out any fiddling around.

digging out of the latest Seti outage

I hope you are all well and if you've been reading the forums over at Seti, hopefully you are getting your rigs back on track. Since I use optimized apps, I had to deploy this workaround to get work: Stop BOINC rename app_info.xml to something else, I just did app_infoold.xml Restart BOINC update Se...

My E6700 on the D975xbx2 runs fine at 310 front side bus but at 320 it reboots after a while. When I come back up I get one of those "windows has recovered from a serious error" messages. When I click on the information about the error I get this: BCCode : 9c BCP1 : 0000000000000000 BCP2 :...

Originally posted by pcalliance I'm not sure it's the FSB and it's definately not thermal. What is the voltage on the RAM? 2.2. Board default was 1.8, but the Crucial Ballistix ddr2 800 ram specs said 2.2 V , so I set it there. Are you overclocking the ram? I am running at pc533, so it's the same a...

I couldn't have done it without my teammates, so thank all you guys: Everette Dobbins, who taught me how to build computers, TABWebmaster, who told me how to do BOINC with Linux, Patrick Holland, who encouraged me to squeeze a little more out these fantastic Core 2 Duo's and many others who have mad...

I put the voltage up as high as 1.425V and still kept crashing at 320 front side bus. The temps are not going up- stay under 50 deg C, so the issue can't be thermal, can it? It has to be the 485W Noisetaker. Do you think a 600W psu could do the job? The reason I had been buying Enermax is they seem ...

Yes, two Core 2 Duo's can do that for you.:D I was hoping to top out at 5000 RAC with them and the Pentium D 960 and still stay at 25 kwh/day. Adding the video card to the Pentium D's micro ATX board seems to be making a difference already. It's been stuck at 1100 RAC for a long time and since putti...

I tried to run the Bad Axe 2 at 320 fsb and it booted but I found later that it rebooted. After reading some more, it seems that one should set the memory at 533, so it runs 1:1 with the front side bus. I set it that way and sure enough it does. I was running 667, which was at 4:5 according to CPU-Z...

On Your Account page, you see General Preferences, Seti@Home preferences, Message Boards preferences. In General Preferences, go down to "Connect to Network Every" where you can set it up to ten days. If you set it to 1 day, it will download a days worth of work. If you set it to three or ...

I got the wireless card back. I noticed in the device manager there was a big yellow question mark for SMBus. So I restored that by popping in the motherboard driver disk in and updating that driver. Then I was able to reinstall the wireless card and get it back. I read one overclocking guide that s...

Eek! Peer pressure! I can't take it! I have played with it a little the last couple of days, and reading about it. The wireless card on the one computer stopped working, but that can't be from overclocking, can it? Since I can lock the PCI bus. I only went up to 300 fsb. But the wireless card hasn't...

Re: AMDX2 FX60

Hey Pam, are you applying the optimized seti client to your FX60? -Pat Holland Yes, I did. The revision 2 app was pretty good on it. And even with it, all my Intel's ran rings around it. There was even one sad day, where I was looking at the FX-60's Seti results and it was the SLOWEST- next to an E...

Welcome, Rocketman2! Hey, Patrick! I am loving my Core 2 Duo, it hit 1900 rac before LHC came out with some work a few weeks ago. The RAC is slowly going back up now. I built an E6700 on an Asus P5B, 965 chipset. with cas 5 ddr2 800. I installed Windows XP home. I am not overlclocking. I guess I am ...

Yes, those Mac's with Alex Kan's optimized apps have jaw dropping performance. I look at them from time to time and look at the prices, and think "I could build x number of Core 2 Duos for that!" We have the quad core QX6700 around the corner, although two or three guys at Seti have ...
