Very Sad News about Devastated
Moderator: Super Moderators
Can't see what I'm typing through the tears. It used to be a ritual to read the forum every morning with my coffee just to see Dev's brilliantly crafted and oh-so-funny comments. She truly did almost make the day begin.
I love you Sareda. I will love you forever. And even longer than forever.
For those of you who did not know Dev, this thread will give you some idea of how much we all love her.

Dev, I've never had the pleasure of meeting you, but I have read your previous posts. You are a brilliant woman indeed... Bless you and for always....
Now, you know like most of wait to eventually know.... the Truth.

Always here.
I strolled on deck last night my eye’s full of tears. I heard a voice from the East it whispered wipe away those tears. When a shooting star did then appear, it shined so bright it devoured the night, its voice was full of cheer. Follow my light for I will steer the good ship I hold so dear. Oh pirates don’t be sad, just be glad I’m always going to be here. Don’t you waste another tear for I will always be close my dears. Sail the waters and do not fear for Devastated will always be here.

Sareda was one of the greatest people I ever had the honor to converse with. She gave so much to so many people in her journey on this earth. I know I'm not the only person she touched.
Thank you Racehorse for sharing the article.
And may you continue your adventures and journey to whever they take you Sareda. You're light will go on.

Wiggle your big toe.
"When sorrowful look again in your heart, and you will see that in truth you are weeping for what has been your delight."

I have no other words. Every Pirate says what I wish I could so well, and then the next one says it better.
But I, too, would like to thank the dear and honorable Race. With so many that loved her, I always know the day would came when a Pirate would be called to this task The task of this announcement. I am happy with God's choice.
Goddamn, as another thought just came to me. She gave that mother-f**cking disease a real run, didn't she. Not many can say the same. And said disease is weaker today, because she lived.

Did you ever stop to think, and then forget to start again?

I was alerted of this sad news today.
It has been said that the loss of a fellow melanoma sufferer is one of life's most traumatic events. She was the only other one I knew. I now know the truth of that statement. I've been told that, in time, the hurt will fade, only to be replaced by positive memories.
God speed Dev.
Martie.
This is very sad news indeed as I knew Sareda personally.
I had known her for awhile online but finally got the chance to meet her in person in January 2004.
I made the trek up to Mexico from Guatemala to babysit her house, 3 dogs and the cat for 3 months while she made the journey back to the US for more testing to see if her cancer had spread. The good news was that it hadn't.
You would never know that she was as ill as she was if you met her on the street. Sareda was full of life and enjoyed it to its fullest.
Unfortunately that was the last time I ever got to see her face-to-face, but always kept her in my heart and prayers.
She will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

Sareda, or Dev, as most here knew her, came to visit Corvid and me for a few days in March of 2004. I can tell you that her laugh was rich and infectious, her eyes sparkled with wit and glee, and her smile brightened the room wherever she went. Sareda was a class act. She has been, and will be, much missed.
I have a few pictures of her that I've never shared. I've cropped them to focus on our friend, Dev, alone. It isn't me or Corvid who anyone needs to see right now... it's Sareda. So, the next few posts from me here will be those photos.

Anchors Aweigh!
These next few were taken while the three of us were sitting here in the office clowning around. In these photos, Sareda was sitting right here in the same chair where I am sitting as I type these words. My memories of that day are good ones, filled with many smiles and much laughter.
