Registration disabled?
I am on another AB list and found this question posted by one of the members. I checked the registration key here and it does say it is disabled?
"Does anybody know what the deal is with Fantastic Forum? I used to hear
it mentioned on Coast to Coast sometimes, and I went to check it out only
to find out that the registration had been disabled by the administrator.
It's been like this for probably three years now. When I saw that, I
couldn't help but feel like I was being hit with a blast of arrogance:
"We already have enough members, so you aren't welcome."
What's the story? Anybody know?"
Not trying to stir anthing up but thought you would want to know that if new people want to sign up for FF they are being turned away because the registration button is disabled.

I know the private messaging function was disabled a long time ago, because some people were abusing it (by sending rude messages to other pirates). As far as registration goes, it's been my observation that Linnea only opens it up from time to time, because if it's always open a lot of spammers and trolls creep in.

This is my understanding as well.

Until we are able to afford certain customizations to the forum software, we will unfortunately have some inconvenience. We like the 'retro-format' and customized look of the forum, so we are unable to just swap out for the latest upgrade. We do want the better features of the upgrade. So, our eventual solution will involve time, consultations and fees. That's where we are currently.
A hearty thanks to all Pirates for your support of the forum. We will soon begin our eleventh year!
What a Ride it has been, and with your support we hope to continue the journey!
Mysterious and reassuring...
