Yeah, you're a plant and Rombaldi has the herbicide!
This! Is why I love ya so much...

:D

I have examined many other forum formats over the past few days. This one seems the best of the rest.

How much do you know about all this tech stuff, SquidInk?

A nice modern Pirate Ship with lots of great new features but with a traditional look?

Sounds great.

Not enough I'm afraid (or else I would have already emailed you an offer of assistance). I have built a few Drupal sites, one had a very minimalist forum. It was free (as in freedom, not beer), and easy enough for a noob. I use Bluehost, so the the MySQL, Apache, PHP were all ready to go - making the CM a snap.

I might be able to do some research and find out if the FF could be moved to such a site, and what it would look like.

Honestly though, the IP site looked good, and the CSS looked configurable. Also, it seems to have a conversion tool for this exact software - that actually seems like a better option to me.

Where the heck is megman when we need an opinion? :D

Did not see a conversion for the VB2.3.0
Such a dinosaur! I did see VB3.8 and 4.0. It sez to contact them with any unsupportable version - and this we got is not on the main list...

Or, did I miss it?

This has been one of our greatest challenges for awhile. We waited too long to go for the 3.8 upgrade - and now it is not even available. There is a way to pull it up in two different stages though - or used to be. There was a major change in there...

Overall it looks shiny, but I'd be a little gunshy of the Hooks system. It can be resource intensive if its not used with discretion.

No, for some reason I thought this was 3.8 - my bad...

I guess I need to make to the bottom of the page a little more often.

I was just reading the "Pre-Sales Questions" forum on their board (here) - seems like they are very responsive to calls, posts, etc.

Oh oh! What's the 'Hooks System'!!?

Anything like a pike or a gaff?

Does it appear that is an option that could not be taken up? What does it do?

Hi, Mike.

Yah. It's that old. Surprisingly resilient too! We have weathered some major storms with this ol' Ship.

Hi Linnea:)

In general, a hook is a PHP function that is named foo_bar(), where "foo" is the name of the module (whose filename is thus foo.module) and "bar" is the name of the hook.

This from Invision: Applications & Hooks

Install new applications to IP.Board 3, or make use of the new Hooks system to add new functionality to your board.

Looks like it may be optional. From what I can gather the Hooks system seems to have been developed by Windows, and we know where that will get ya.;)

Oh, yes. True. Perhaps you could analyze, as best you can - the advantages/disadvantages of the Invision format.

You know, it might be nice for the 10 or 12 of us who may remain... after all the new **** has hit the fan around here...

We're worth it...
