This summer we are going back to Iles de la Madeleine, which is basically a caribbean island, but close to us.
Check out this road (it is the only road connecting the sections of island):

It is a 5 hour ferry ride from anywhere. It is maybe the most amazing and beautiful place in Canada that I have been to, and I have seen a lot of it.

That looks amazing. How much is the ferry? Can you fly there too? Are you taking your car?

The ferry is a couple of hundred, not sure exactly. Less than $500 both ways (with car and 2 people). We take the car yes, although it looks small there is a lot of land there, it is just long and thin. There is a small airport, never looked into how to do that.
We drive through Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI, taking the confederation bridge. The ferry leaves from the top of PEI. So, it is maybe a 12 hour drive to the ferry, but we will stop in Charlottetown and do some looking around, never been there.

There are big waves out there, tons of surfing, and always a stiff wind blowing, so it is a mecca for parasailing and windsurfing. The road is mostly protected by huge dunes on the ocean side, but yeah, it is pretty interesting for sure when you are driving along and can look out to sea on either side of your car.
