Posting In Phantom Mode

Post by Riddick » 01-14-2015 09:11 AM

Go to the National news deck. Note the thread I started, Pastor Says He Punched Kid In The Name Of God, is listed as having one reply posted by Ben - THEN look at the thread itself....

Is Phantom Mode posting a bug, or a feature?

That's weird, I saw Bens post, was it removed for some reason? Or as you say a "Phantom" post as you say, what ever you said?

I saw it earlier too. I thought maybe Ben himself deleted it. If it was otherwise purposefully removed, without explanation, that would raise a whole 'nother bunch of concerns about the forum in my mind -

Yet, there still remains the technical issue of how exactly a post comes to reside in the Phantom Zone.

Nothing I did... Ben must have deleted it I guess?

Ben's doing or not, having traces of posts persist even after deletion isn't normal.

Such phantom behavior is somewhat disconcerting... Time to bring in an Exorcist?

it must be a bug. I posted then deleted a reply and it reset the counter back to zero replies.

If you see it happen again let me know and I can try checking the logs to see if I can find something. Post in this thread and I will get the email about it.

Thanks for keeping an eye out!

Nope. I never delete anything. Must be a glitch in the system. A bug. A bad cog. A ghost in the machine!!!

What sort of ghost goes around deleting posts without making sure to tidy up the thread listing? We can count Casper out. While Spooky's a tuff little phantom, even he's not known for messy mischief.

I strongly suspect their no-account cousin, Slobbo.

You'd think that they'd claim credit though.......

it is a subtle hack, where a post doesn't disappear, it just looks like there is one, but there is none. These guys are good!
