To Those In Seattle/Bellevue Area
The last time I was in the area was '69 and I bet things have changed since then. There's a possibility that hubby will be going there for business. There's also a possibility that I would go with him. The question is, would I have enough to keep me busy seeing the sights for a few days during the day, or would I have to bring a book? I don't think we would have a car so, are there sight-seeing tours available? The business is actually in the Bellevue area.

The Emerald City ROCKS 24/7
There are many things to do.
Suggest shopping at South Center
Eating at http://www.barnabysseattle.com
or if you like REAL Italian go to
http://www.verrazanos.com
hehe I have eaten both places, I even built the humble web sites, host them as well.
Barnabys is located at South Center
but Verrazanos is 6 to 8 miles south of the Airport.
The Waterfront is still a great place to visit while in Seattle/Emerald City.
There is an ART Museum Downtown, as well as lots of comedy clubs.
Oh lots of coffee houses spread out all over the Emerald City.

In war there is but one favorable moment; the great art is to seize it!

Forget the book, Snobird -- the fun never ends here! Seattle, and the surrounding areas (including Bellevue) are lush, green, and gorgeous. Your biggest problem will be not enough time to see everything you want to see. Rent a car to make the most out of your vacation, or check out the bus schedule. You can also plan a weekend in Victoria, BC via the Victoria Clipper, or drive up there in a rental car.

Wow! These links are great. I doubt if I would have enough time to do all the outdoor activies but the Seattle underground tour sounds interesting. I don't remember hearing about it when I was there. I had forgotten what a beautiful place that area is.
I'm not sure of anyone's hobbies but would anyone know of a good bead shop in that area?
Thanks a bunch

I'm so glad you found the links helpful, Snobird!

But be careful -- one can easily become lost in LaLa Land in that store!
Downtown Bellevue hosts several hotels like Red Lion, for instance, but that's not cheap. I've never stayed in a hotel there, so sorry I can't be more helpful. How about putting in a call to a travel agent to inquire about price, availability, and proximity?
Yep. "Beads and Beyond" is in the heart of downtown Bellevue, a few blocks south and west of Bellevue Square. Here's a web site that gives their address (I think this is the web site of someone who teaches classes there):snowbird wrote: I'm not sure of anyone's hobbies but would anyone know of a good bead shop in that area?

If you like energetic, but not exactly mainstream music, there's The Tractor.

Hi Snowbird! I'm the queen of all things travel so will be happy to help you with hotel reservations. Post some dates and I'll post the rates for you. Bellevue has a slew of nice hotels.
Seattle!
Snowbird, how lucky you are!
I have NEVER had better food anywhere in the world than in Seattle! The "chef's tables" are the most fun ....... will try to remember the names of the restaurants ....
Hope I have a chance to go back some day ...... and next time get to meet Linnea and RC

I guess my particular universe is unfolding as it should. Two cities have been mentioned. Rather than get in a lather, I'm going to have to acquire some patience to wait and see what develops. I'm rooting for Seattle...
Thanks for your help - it's very much appreciated. As soon as I know exactly what's happening, I'll get back to you all. I would love to do lunch or something Iris.

Still researching Seattle...
I found the following link that I'm sure you will find interesting. I love old pictures - they somehow seem so familiar.

you'll need a snorkle till at least june, after June, only till noon or 1 o'clock----used to drive 6 hrs for some Ivars clam chowder, but not since they franchised---downtown for regular folks caffein fix, capitol hill for the upper class java junkiez-----Pacific Northwest is a great place to visit, ( and pork your brains out on every kind of food you could think of) but toooooooooo wet for me after a week or so.
