And what about two states not sending out absentee ballots for our military? Can we say fraud in big letters?

Military ballots may not count in Illinois
The U.S. Justice Department is investigating whether the state of Illinois missed the deadline for mailing absentee ballots to members of the military and other overseas American voters as part of a new federal overseas voting law.

Cris Cray, Director of Legislation at the Illinois State Board of Elections, says not all of Illinois' 110 jurisdictions were compliant with the 2009 Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act (MOVE).

The law requires every state to mail their absentee ballots 45 days prior to Election Day to overseas troops, government employees and other Americans who want to vote from abroad.

Cray says she is currently compiling data from each of Illinois' jurisdictions to determine which were compliant and which were delinquent. Cray said it's possible the ballots may not be counted because the state was tardy in sending them out.

Illinois really shouldn't have an excuse. Their primary was one of the first in 2010. Some of the late primary states (mine is one:rolleyes: ) have to really scramble to get primary results fully tabulated, the election certified by the SoS, then the ballots created, delivered to the printer, double checked and mailed by September 28th!

WASHINGTON (AP) – Suicides are surging among America's troops, averaging nearly one a day this year — the fastest pace in the nation's decade of war.

The 154 suicides for active-duty troops in the first 155 days of the year far outdistance the U.S. forces killed in action in Afghanistan — about 50% more — according to Pentagon statistics obtained by the Associated Press.

Tragic,

I do find it of interest the misuse of prescription meds is included and suicides of those never deployed, substantially high.

Would like to see more detailed analysis.

"The reasons for the increase are not fully understood. Among explanations, studies have pointed to combat exposure, post-traumatic stress, misuse of prescription medications and personal financial problems. Army data suggest soldiers with multiple combat tours are at greater risk of committing suicide, although a substantial proportion of Army suicides are committed by soldiers who never deployed."

Those meds are often not used to cure, but to Band Aide the wound.

What I find most tragic is that veterans are not getting the first shot at jobs, and the compensation. Falls back to what I said in another thread. It's a coward who sends boys off to fight, and when they are hurt, stands back and claims that "an agency" is not doing enough.

Yes and these preferences are nothing new.

Mary Lincoln, much to President Lincoln's dismay kept Robert out of the Civil War. Robert only served for the last several months and far away from the front lines.

PETERSBURG, Va. — More than 40 soldiers from Fort Lee are deploying to Kuwait and Afghanistan.

Officials at the Army base near Petersburg say the soldiers from the 111th Quartermaster Company left Wednesday for an at least six-month deployment.

The soldiers are part of one of the Army's only two active duty mortuary affairs units.
Unfortunate.
