LA City Council Votes for Civil War 2
Bad, bad, bad move...
quote:L.A. Becomes Largest City To Boycott Arizona
LOS ANGELES (CBS) --
Los Angeles on Wednesday became the largest city yet to boycott Arizona over its tough new law targeting illegal immigration in a move that likely will affect some $8 million in contracts with the state.
The City Council voted 13-1 to bar Los Angeles from conducting business with Arizona unless the law is repealed. The vote followed an emotional council discussion during which many members noted that their ancestors were U.S. immigrants.
"Los Angeles is the second-largest city in this country. An immigrant city, an international city needs to have its voice heard," Councilman Ed Reyes said.
Ed Reyes is an idiot.

HB3 - well we as a nation could boycott LA!
Don't we find it strange that LA's crime rates have gone down - maybe they've already enacted their own illegal actions and are afraid that all those illegals will head to LA....
There we go - send all the illegals to LA!
nahhhh -- j/k

Indeed. And silent boycotts are often the ones that really work.

Meanwhile...
quote: The public broadly supports a new Arizona law aimed at dealing with illegal immigration and the law’s provisions giving police increased powers to stop and detain people who are suspected of being in the country illegally.
Fully 73% say they approve of requiring people to produce documents verifying their legal status if police ask for them. Two-thirds (67%) approve of allowing police to detain anyone who cannot verify their legal status, while 62% approve of allowing police to question people they think may be in the country illegally.

And this is a good one:
quote: “I’ve just expressed concerns on the basis of what I’ve heard about the law. But I’m not in a position to say at this point, not having read the law, not having had the chance to interact with people are doing the review, exactly what my position is,” Mr. Holder told the House Judiciary Committee.
This weekend Mr. Holder told NBC’s “Meet the Press” program that the Arizona law “has the possibility of leading to racial profiling.” He had earlier called the law’s passage “unfortunate,” and questioned whether the law was unconstitutional because it tried to assume powers that may be reserved for the federal government.
Rep. Ted Poe, who had questioned Mr. Holder about the law, wondered how he could have those opinions if he hadn’t yet read the legislation.
“It’s hard for me to understand how you would have concerns about something being unconstitutional if you haven’t even read the law,” the Texas Republican told the attorney general.

http://opinion.latimes.com/opinionl...ation-poll.html
Poll: Was the L.A. City Council right to pass a boycott of Arizona?
Yes. Arizona needs to feel the consequences of enacting a bad law. 2% (268 votes)
Yes, though the boycott should be more of a symbolic gesture than an official measure. <1% (43 votes)
No, but only because doing so is probably illegal and not in L.A.'s interest. 4% (424 votes)
No. The city should mind its own business. 94% (11,093 votes)
Total Votes: 11,828

You don't get it do you...
This is NOT about providing documentation on your citizenship status..
It's about WHO THEY WILL BE ASKING...
You think that they will be stopping asking blonde hair, blue eyed people .. 'show me your papers'?
Grow up and stop defending these bigots and racists... or are you defending your own position?
