No it wasn't and didn't come out the way I meant it. What I meant to say is I have been following this thread and the other thread you and PW are discussing and you are very smart. But you never mention any life experiences. And life experiences do shape our thoughts. Is it possible for you to just have a conversation about immigration ?

I can post up articles that agree with my point of view all day long, just like you can post up articles that agree with yours. I would love to discuss this issue with you, but I don't want to have an article war. And if you are going to say you don't believe anything anyone else posts what is the point of wasting the time even responding.

More people have been deported under Obama than Bush. Immigration as it stands is not enforceable unless you address the reasons why people are coming here to begin with.

If immigration was so easily fixed it would have been fixed under Bush.

Well, Bush clearly didn't want it fixed either.

Mass deportations are unnecessary. If you even start to enforce the law -- or just say you're going to enforce the law! -- people get the message. Look at the reaction in Arizona before the law has even gone into effect.

Really, there's nothing to "fix." As far as walls and fences, they clearly work, and there are many examples of contemporary security barriers that function effectively.

Would do a hell of a lot right there.

Personal experiences? What do you want? In Los Angeles, no one really wants to go outside any more, so it's true, people are more and more retreating to their "closets," so to speak. Welcome to LA, where nothing works anymore.

The basic concept is called attrition through enforcement.

http://www.cis.org/articles/2006/back406.html

example:
Laws enacted by the state governments of Florida and New York to prevent illegal immigrants from obtaining driver's licenses have induced more illegal aliens to leave than have federal enforcement efforts against certain illegal populations in those states, and have come at virtually no cost to the federal government.

So the funds were approved today almost 2 months after the President asked for the funding.
