9/11 Responder Aid Package Fails In House
I am not going to post a quote from the article because my hopes are the article will be read in its entirety. This is an outrage, these people were there for the American people, they went in saved lives at the risk of their own and this is what do to help them absolutely nothing !

I don't know why Pelosi didnt PW, but here we are 2010 and these people are still struggling to get help, I wonder how many will die while waiting.Psychicwolf wrote: Plenty of money for banksters, of course. Why didn't Pelosi bring this to vote as a normal bill? A pox on both their houses and both side of the aisle.
This is something both parties should be working together on, its just the right thing to do, to take care of them.

Pelosi has proven she can get just about any bill she wants through, if she REALLY wants to. They (I am including Dems and Repubs here), I am sure, are hoping these people will be bought off with the lawsuit. Disgusting, truly.
Dance to heal the earth. Not just when you're dancing, but always. Live the dance, whenever you move, in all you do, dance to heal the earth.
The lawsuit factor is mentioned in the article. It is disgusting and I am not laying the blame on any political party I am blaming them both. I am just really disgusted with much in Washington, between this and the unemployment benefits its being evident that we little people have become the enemy. There is no excuse in my book that 9 yrs later these people are being traumatized again by 9/11.

It is sad to see grown men yelling at each other on the floor of the congress.
However, what else was tacked on to this bill? Someone said it was 1000 page bill - which means - a whole lot of other things above and beyond what the bill is supposed to be about. Wondering if we can find it somewhere??
WE NEED to help those who suffered from work and dust and all from 9-11. Am all for that help.

A little more information.
http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0731/york-d ... esponders/In the days prior, House GOP leadership tried to attach an amendment that would block illegal immigrants from receiving any of the aid, hoping to create a Catch-22 for Democrats who'd be forced to anger their Hispanic constituencies by voting in favor.
Democrats instead responded in-kind, by invoking a suspension of the rules and disallowing any amendments to the bill; their goal being a straight up-or-down vote as the act was written, essentially turning Republicans' tack against them.
Unfortunately, the suspension of the rules also mandated that the House clear a two-thirds majority: something Democrats do not possess, but should have been able to carry on this bill in particular.
Nothing but politics is stopping this from happening and as far as I am concerned some yelling on the House floor was totally in order.

A copy of the bill

I don't think 1000 pages is that much considering the amount of people involved and the different illnesss and circumstances that would apply to helping all of them.

Unbelieveable. Is it any wonder that people are fed-up with both political parties????
I am not entirely sure, but mention was made of a potential lawsuit. Someone, pleae correct mne if I am wrong, but isn't it impossible to sue the government?

There you go man, keep as cool as you can. Face piles and piles of trials with smiles. It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave. And keep on thinking free. (Moody Blues)
A pox on both their houses.
A pox on the Republicans for not voting for this bill due to being ticked they could not take illegal immigration shots at the Democrats.
A pox on the Democrats for using this bill to play political games with Republicans by not putting it up for a majority vote that would have passed in the end.
Weiner and King should both simply shut the **** up, feckless politicians that they are trying to score points off the victims of 9/11. It's too bad neither had the guts to call out their own party leaders for the charade played out over this bill.

Actually its a pox on all of us, this should have been the headlines on every newspaper and the leading on the MSM. These were not political parties that raced into this carnage, they were and are Americans heroes. What does it say about us as Americans that there is no outrage, really nothing but silence.
Its more than a sad statement about us as a people:(

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Which is why the filth of the GOPigs wouldn't vote for it, they were DEMANDING to be able to attach totally unlrelated amendments to the bill and the Dem's wanted it as a clean, simple bill with NO EXCESSES... and the piece of filth that is the Republican Tea Party REFUSED TO VOTE FOR IT UNLESS THEY COULD ADD ON AMENDMENT AFTER AMENDMENTS...
Looks like you blew your morning talking points Polly...
Republican - re·pub·li·can (r-pbl-kn) - political party, which will control part of Congress 2011-2012, undermining the strength of the country - on purpose, in public, without apology or shame - simply for a campaign advantage in 2012.
