You're right, Mike. The Republican Party used to be way more centrist and in some ways quite decent. Starting with Reagan, the GOP has moved increasingly to the extremist right. So has the Democratic Party, btw. Both parties are corrupted by Big Money. But the Republican Party is the most corrupt because (up to now -- but that could be changing as we speak) the Dems have still had union funds for campaigns, so have been a bit less dependent on corporate funds to win election.

What we need to return government to We the People is an amendment to the Constitution that slips the word "natural" in as a modifier to the word "human/humans." That is the ultimate basis for meaningful campaign finance reform.
