Fan wrote: So sorry RA. Sounds like you knew her well, and that you both took good advantage of your partnership and love. I lost 2 cats last year and I still miss both of them. My mom just lost a cat friend of 13 years. It is never easy, and yes, there is a hole left afterwards, even when a new cat comes into your life (as one will if you let it). However, like humans, we can do nothing but celebrate the time we had together, and to thank them for their companionship and love.

I have a siamese sitting on my lap as I write this, she adopted me soon after the passing of one of my furry friends last year, she knew I had room. Kindred spirits to be sure.

Thanks Fan! I am sorry that you and your Mom have lost your friends. We all dread having to part with them but they do give us wonderful memories to cherish, so it's all worth it.

I am still hearing phantom Emma noises around the house. :(

Funny that you should mention getting another cat. I have been waiting for another wild one to show up. I'm sure one will.

Y'know, it IS that time of year the wild ones are making their way out and about, getting around after a long winter.

There's never more sure sign spring has arrived when you see...

Unfortunately, in my neck of the woods there are many wild cats. Our animal control resources leave a lot to be desired. The folks that try to take care of it have to rely on donations and they are volunteers.

People drive their unwanted cats to the woods on the outskirts of town and dump them off. I suppose people do this everywhere in the world but because we are a tiny community, we see these poor cats all the time. The wild cats mate with domestic cats and then we have hybrids, which I'm sure is how my Emma came to be. Even after 14 yrs of domestication, she still couldn't make up her mind. :)

Edited to add:
There are generations of cats in the forest here that have never had human contact, unlike strays in the city. However, they will still come around our yards late at night looking for crumbs and some can be tamed with food if we exercise patience.

This guy has been hanging around asking to come in... but we have 4 already! It is summer so he is content to hang out outside, I think he has a crush on our siamese beauty.

Oh what a beauty! I wish we lived closer. I would adopt him in a heartbeat.

I love how cats just make themselves comfortable anywhere.

I think this is the first we've seen of Chelsea, unless I missed a past pic. Lovely Siamese, if you please. :)

my gosh she is beautiful, all the boys lust after her. She just showed up in the backyard one day, limping badly. It took me a full week of going out 4-5 times a day with food, leaving it there, then slowly edging closer. I have never seen a jumpier cat, and I usually have a fast connection. After we got her in for the winter and vetted her she now sits in my lap inside as many hours a day as I will allow, she has completely become part of the family. She sleeps under the blanket in bed quite often.

She is a beauty Fan. Those eyes would be hard to resist. How lucky you are that she picked you.

Fan, is the stray kitty still outside? Do you have a shelter close by where you can take him? He is so sweet looking he would get a home in no time.
