Photographic Bedlam!

loving it Squid. You have a great eye.
I don't know if this fits, but here is a door I stripped last year before I replaced glass, puttied and finished it. Took all summer to do, but wow does it look good back on the hinges.

Did you hang the door? That thing looks solid.
yup it is the outside door to one of our back doors, stood up to winter great. I also upgraded the hardware on it to nice pewter finish stuff.
It is a long term project to upgrade and finish all the windows and doors in this house. It is a big project as we have 18 or so 6 paned wood windows and 3 big wood doors. I have finished 5 windows and 1 door so far, but they are done well. Sanded to 600 grit, every hole lovingly sanded and filled if necessary, 6 coats of polyurethane sealer, high-quality silicon sealer for window edges (this is the hardest part, it sucks trying to make this look nice), way too much love went into them for the amount of attention they receive. I have learned last year to hurry it the heck up. Cut some corners, not the important ones.
It is a labour of love, but that is basically what motivates me. Sometimes you have to not do things you "have to do" because you "want to do" something else, that is what life is for.

You know, I used to install windows in high end aircraft. They had to be neatly sealed with silicone, and I discovered a pretty cool method for doing it. It involved blue painters tape and my index finger. Simple solutions can work well - but you know that!
It sounds like a huge project to tackle. More pics!

Yes I learned to use the finger (but you have to wear gloves and that makes it harder), but it still goops everywhere, and if you make a mistake you are screwed. I spend lots of time with a razor after scraping down errant silicone.
I test all my window seals before putting them up by pouring water into the window panes while it is lying down and leaving it overnight. If the floor is dry in the morning it is good to go.
It is ridiculous because we have overhangs on our house so the windows rarely get direct precipitation hits.

here is another project, pipes.
The bottom one is a MASSIVE (~1.5lb) piece of italian briar with straight grain and natural plateau top (the making of pipes is very interesting, worth checking out if you are a wood worker - briar is one of the hardest woods possible), imported to the US in 1978 and stored and seasoned until now. I am at this point at a bit of a loss on that one, I need to learn more before cutting into that, but I have 2 others in production from blanks like the top one.

My friend picked up a t-shirt printer. I'm thinking about doing a line of shirts.
