The court of public opinion is the only court in this country where the accused has no right to be faced by their accusers. I'm surprised at the degree with which the media is accepting "unnamed sources". In the past, having verifiable sources was a prerequisite of journalism.

Well, it depends on the definition of "verifiable source(s)" doesn't it? Say a couple dozen unnamed sources say the same thing - They couldn't possibly all be full of BS, could they? So that's 'verified' - But say you have 100 unnamed sources, 3 say one thing, the rest say another: Who are you gonna believe? The 97%, of course!

People who fret over heavy use of anonymous sources simply don’t know how the verification process works. Never mind the preponderance of no evidence, you can trust the press, folks! They know what they're doing.
