This is a true story, it happened this morning.

Since I have no car any longer, I use "Dial-A-Ride" or The "Taxi Service" being in a small town, if "Dial-A-Ride" gets behind the Taxi picks up when necessary to help, Especially on week-ends. I had a hair cut appointment and it was the taxi, that picked me up. The taxi driver was also the "Dispatcher" today, taking the calls for all the
Taxies. As soon as I got in the taxi, the phone rang, (on speaker)...............

Driver :"XYZ Taxi"

Caller: "Hello, this is Chris, I've been waiting for a long time."

Driver: " Sorry for the delay, Chris. We will be there ASP.

Caller: after A very long pause.........."How do you, know my NAME!??!


I was laughing too hard to get through the rest of it!

I had something similar happen the other day. Said Hi to a co-worker, she said hi back, asked her how she was doing, she said good & asked how I was doing.

I said good and started to ask AGAIN how she was doing but caught myself in the middle, saying I guess I wasn't thinking, she said yep

Sometimes the old brain doesn't register what's what and gets caught in a loop.
