Oh! I thought your only intent was to insult me and Sandy, since that's all you accomplished.

Jesus. Maybe you could hire a detective to locate that missing sense of humor. In the meantime, here's an amusing thread....

And the original...

I see this debate is deadly as sin and challenging any article of faith, even in jest, generates manifestos on either side.

You don't mind if we get back to the original topic, it would seem this trucking company as well as the driver don't have a very good record. ;)

Driver in Highway Collapse Has Rap Sheet

Snip...

"But court records show Mosqueda has a long criminal rap sheet, including drug and burglary arrests.

The fire destroyed the elevated section of highway that funnels traffic from the Bay Bridge to a number of key freeways.

Mosqueda had been a driver for his current employer, Sabek Transportation, for about 10 months when the crash occurred, Cross said.

In June 2006, another driver of a tanker operated by Sabek was ticketed for excessive speed when the dual-tanker he was driving overturned on an onramp in Vallejo, spilling 4,500 gallons of diesel, which drained into a nearby creek.

Several calls to Sabek by The Associated Press were either hung up on or forwarded to a voicemail box for Tom Saberi, who has previously been listed as an attorney for the company. Saberi did not return any of the messages seeking comment."

Interesting Linda, I have a friend who drives a tanker for Eagle in Tenn., he is required to have a drug test yearly plus a complete physical, they also check his back ground periodically. I don't know if this is just his companies policy or if it has anything to do with the state.

The image of the fire was insane and the aftermath was scary.

The DOT requires a physical every two years along with a drug test and also random drug testing. There is also a program in place, at least in California, that requires companies to review drivers records, but I believe that is only in relation to their driving record.

The other thing is that a CDL (commercial license) holder is part of a national data base. This was to prevent a driver with a bad record in one state going to another state and getting a new license.

You're welcome. I haven't been involved much in the regulatory end of trucking for awhile, but I am sure that there is more regulation involved when the license is endorsed for hazardous materials. This would probably come under the Dept. of Homeland Stupidity, excuse me, Homeland Security...

Thanks whskyfan for the info, all driver licenses are on a national
data base.

So how are things going there now traffic-wise?

I didn't know that the data base included all licenses. A good and bad thing I guess. I wonder how long it will be before a physical will be required for every driver?
