"Former President Bill Clinton was rushed Thursday to a hospital in New York City, where he underwent a procedure to have two stents placed in a coronary artery, his office said.
Clinton, 63, was transported to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, the same hospital where he underwent quadruple bypass surgery in 2004.
"Today President Bill Clinton was admitted to the Columbia Campus of New York Presbyterian Hospital after feeling discomfort in his chest," Douglas Band, counselor to the former president, said in a statement to the media.
"Following a visit to his cardiologist, he underwent a procedure to place two stents in one of his coronary arteries. President Clinton is in good spirits, and will continue to focus on the work of his Foundation and Haiti's relief and long-term recovery efforts," the statement said.
Stents are tiny tubes, sometimes made of a mesh-like mateiral, that are inserted into blood vessels so as to increase blood flow. According to the American Heart Association, the use of stents is a fairly commonplace in patients requiring coronary angioplasty to help open clogged arteries.
Sources told The New York Times that Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton did not learn of her husband's condition until she'd concluded a meeting in the Oval Office with President Obama. Mrs. Clinton is said to have left Washington, and is headed for New York.
Bill Clinton has recently been helping coordinate the U.S. relief effort following the Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti, alongside former President George W. Bush."

Race and I did this when Rush Limbaugh had his troubles, Bella! Linnea just merged the two threads.
My very best wishes are with the former President. Initially I'd heard that Mrs. Clinton would keep her appointments at the White House, but heard at the bottom-of-the-hour news break on the radio just now that she's left and is headed to New York. So this sounds a little more serious than it did before.

He is in my thoughts also.
He is symbolic of an entire nation that eats not in a healthy way.
Joolz is a semi-vegetarian and has improved my diet from mostly beef and pork (love both) to basic chicken and fish.
I am exploring Indian cooking to achieve a healthy and tasty menu.
BTW... all went well today for me. Doctor I trust very much was very optimistic and looks like the little mini-death of full anesthetic surgery will not be required. Will wait for lab results with fingers crossed.
My best wishes for the "Big Dawg".
