They did away with a lot of PE in many schools, now some are returning at least once a week. They removed recess (as noted) due to lawsuits because kids were injured? Or someone's ego might be hurt if they were always the last kid chosen for some sport activity on the playground. Now they go after school lunches?

For a while they were forcing ritalin on many kids - too hyper. Well gee kids are growing - they got rid of recess and PE where kids could run and play and expected the kids to sit and be quiet the entire school day.

They started teaching all these sex-ed courses and handed out condoms and wondered why so many teens were becoming pregnant.

Time parents had more control over the schools, what is taught and returning recess or PE to the curriculum. So what if some of the lunches are not "super nutritious" it is what kids eat. Gee are they not going to allow kids to go home and eat these foods? What is next?

Kids here still have recess. And things to climb on, and swings and slides. They are well supervised, and games like "chase" aren't allowed, but that was what the parents wanted (too many smaller kids getting caught and clobbered by the bigger kids), but they still have outdoor play periods.

ETA: However, I could see the possibility of recess times being cut back if there's a lack of personnel to supervise them - again what parents wanted (close supervision) - due to the major budget cuts in education funding.

Yes its an obvious attempt to extract as much $$$ as they can :(

I guess you could test this by bringing your own lunch and STILL PAY THEM FOR THIERS! (If they let you,you know the agenda)

Many decades ago - when I was in school - our PTA asked for and received volunteers who helped with recess duties and even helped teachers (as aides).

Maybe its time to do that again.
