What would the reaction be if a production company was to, say, develop a musical that explores the lives of, for example, Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks or Malcolm X...... but specifies that there be NO black actors......??????

No, The ‘Hamilton’ Casting Call For ‘Non-White’ Actors Is Not Reverse Racism

On Wednesday, a casting call for the Broadway juggernaut that is “Hamilton” drew criticism from members of the Actors’ Equity theater union for specifying a need for “non-white” actors. To the union, and to many others in and outside of the theater world, the idea that the show would exclude white performers in its auditioning process is wrong: the auditions should be open for everyone.

OK, but no.

To be clear: from a legal standpoint, this is really a question of semantics. According to the rules of professional theatre, the use of “Non-” anything is considered discrimination. What they should have done was specify what races they wanted, not what race they did not want. That was their mistake.

However, criticizing the show’s poorly-worded casting call is very different than criticizing the show’s desire for actors of color. Because that is how casting calls work. Casting directors want to fill a specific role, a character with a certain height, a certain age, a certain hair color or, yes, a certain race ― and then they make a casting call that spells out all the details so that they only have to see actors who would actually work for the part.

And that’s not to say that the system is inherently OK just because it’s always worked this way. There is, of course, a case to be made for the importance of colorblind casting, the practice of choosing actors for parts based solely on their ability and not on race or ethnicity. And if you think about it, “Hamilton” is perhaps as colorblind as castings come ― when else would black and Latino actors get to play the Founding Fathers?

We've been led down that road for a long time. Remember 8 long years ago, Barry's 1st little get together on TV and the black Professor who locked himself out of his house? The cops stopped to check on him as he was breaking into his own house? And Barry called the cops Stupid and racist for just doing their jobs, cause the Professor was black. It went bad from there on.

I think that this is where Trump may have one of this greatest difficulties - any buy that I don't necessarily mean issues related solely to race I (or gender) but meaning the status-quo. Look at how Trump is trying to handle jobs and foreign affairs and everyone (seemingly) is freaking out because he's not going by the official playbook.

So, was Trump "wrong" to speak with the leader of Taiwan? Of course not, but according to some gentlemen's agreement since Nixon's times, apparently, he should have kissed Beijing's butt. Was he wrong to work out a deal with Carrier? If anything, I've been hearing that he should have given them fair warning first. Even then, many Wall St types are upset because this will affect the bottom lines of many corporations, but then, as O'Reilly said last night, Wall St can't compare the cost of living in the USA with the cost of living in Mexico, China and other Third World countries. There can't be a level playing field all around as our costs to live here are far higher.

It's gonna be a trip no doubt about it......
