And then we come back to reality and timeliness............ Ken Burns documentary on The Vietnam War:

There you go man, keep as cool as you can. Face piles and piles of trials with smiles. It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave. And keep on thinking free. (Moody Blues)

'They're Using The Wrong Tool:' Vietnam Vet Opposes NFL Protests

Post by Riddick » 09-28-2017 05:10 PM

Image
From Alex Rozier at king5.com -

Michael Reagan is a Vietnam veteran. He's also an artist who draws portraits of fallen soldiers. Since 2003, the Edmonds man has drawn more than 5,000 portraits, and he delivers them to the families of the fallen for free.

For the first time since the project began, he is speaking publicly about something else: the NFL player protests during the national anthem.

“Anybody who knows me knows I held my friend, two of them, Peter Armstrong and Vincent Santaniello, March 28, 1968. Vincent’s blood is still on my hands. Those men came home covered in an American flag,” Reagan said. “Disrespect the flag and you break my heart.”

“It isn’t that their concerns aren’t justified, they are,” Reagan said. “This is not the vehicle to use. People are dying for our flag.”

For nearly 15 years, Reagan’s art has been solely focused on fallen heroes.

After the NFL protests on Sunday, he drew someone else. On Sunday he drew Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Tackle Alejandro Villanueva. Villanueva was the one player on the Steelers who stood outside the tunnel with his hand over his heart while the rest of his team protested injustice from the locker room during the national anthem.

Since the game, Villanueva has said it was never his intention to be away from his teammates during the anthem, but Reagan still felt it was important to say thanks to the lineman who also happens to be a veteran.

“I wanted to tell him about who I am and what I’ve been doing, but I also wanted to thank him for his three tours in Afghanistan and what he did on Sunday,” Reagan said. “This soldier came out of the tunnel, put his hand on his chest, and paid attention to the anthem and the flag, which is really important to me.”

Reagan’s favorite team, the Seattle Seahawks, also protested injustice during the national anthem. He said despite their protest, he will remain their fan for a lifetime.

“I love the Seahawks. I’ll always be a fan,” Reagan said. “These are good people. They are all good people. It isn’t that they are bad people and it isn’t that they don’t have a gripe. They do. They’re using the wrong tool. They’re taking what I served for and risked my life for and what my friends died for as their tool. That’s a mistake.”

JP Morgan Chase Lowers Outlook for CBS

Post by Riddick » 09-29-2017 01:45 AM

The NFL’s protests against the national anthem are causing fans to reassess their interests in football, but the protests also seem to be causing investors to reconsider their investments in the league as well.

JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s Shawn Quigg is now encouraging investors to stay away from investing in CBS stock ahead of the NFL’s Week 4 broadcasts, according to Bloomberg.

According to Bloomberg, NFL ad revenue makes up 10 percent of CBS’s total revenue, Quigg noted, meaning that any hit CBS takes could be consequential.

“NFL-related revenue is not trivial to CBS, and any decline in NFL viewership related to the National Anthem debate may negatively affect future results,” he said Wednesday. “We view this weekend’s viewership results as a cleaner proxy in determining whether the Anthem debate may be a larger issue for the NFL, and CBS, or not.”

Quigg also pointed to the soaring sales of Pittsburgh Steelers player Alejandro Villanueva — who became an instant favorite for being the only player to stand for the anthem.

“If one uses player jersey sales as a proxy, fans appear to favor an on-field standing presence during the Anthem,” he said.

The warning may be timely for investors as ratings for the NFL have been steadily falling at least since the 2016 season. Week 2 ratings were some of the worst in decades and that was before the mass protests hit the league last weekend. Additionally, Sunday Night Football was hit with an eight percent drop in viewership for Week 3.

Quigg warned that another week of bad ratings could “mobilize investors to take the potential impact more seriously.” FULL STORY

Major-league sports organizations and owners(and ironically, arms-merchants) understand only one thing - profit.

Plus, just think of the dedicated football fans/consumers of goods that lost close or distant relatives or had surviving close or distant relatives of this nations many battles from 1776 on! It'd be huge numbers as American Patriots, if we only knew how many!

As all sports game goers they stand during the National Anthem and take off their caps or place their hands over their hearts as they all face the Stars and Stripes!

Off topic............ :(

God Bless all 59 who died or were wounded as 515 were taken to hospitals in Las Vegas last night! :(

The count is being updated here.........

Agree on everything you said MK - both situations are sad (in their own distinct ways of course..............)

NFL Players’ Union Teamed Up With Soros To Fund Leftist Advocacy Groups
Tax Documents Show NFLPA Activism Goes Beyond Take-A-Knee Protests

Even before its feud over the national anthem with President Trump, the NFL Players Association wasn’t on the same political team as many of its fans, judging from its contributions to leftist advocacy groups.

Tax documents released by 2ndVote show the NFLPA donated $5,000 in 2015 to the Center for Community Change Action, a group active in the anti-Trump resistance and bankrolled by a host of liberal foundations, including top Democratic donor George Soros’s Foundation for Open Society.

A member of the AFL-CIO, the NFLPA also contributed in 2013 and 2015 to Working America, the AFL-CIO’s community affiliate, which Open Secrets said spent $1 million in 2016 to defeat Trump.

Working America has since mobilized against the Republican tax-cut framework, denouncing it as the “Trump tax scam.”

The NFLPA contributed $5,000 in 2014 to Jobs with Justice, another pro-union group backed by Soros, and $5,000 in 2013 to the progressive Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy.

The CCCA, whose 2015 annual report lists Planned Parenthood as a donor, plans to honor Democratic mega-donor Tom Steyer at its Oct. 12 awards dinner recognizing “heroes on the front lines of resistance.”

“Clearly, ‘social activism’ by NFL players includes aligning with George Soros and other liberal organizations like Planned Parenthood in support of the left’s agenda,” said 2ndVote, a conservative watchdog group.

In a joint statement, the NFL and NFLPA said they met Tuesday to discuss “the important issue of social activism by NFL players,” but 2ndVote urged them to call a halt to the political advocacy.

“With television audiences declining every week and fans growing increasingly tired of the disrespect of the flag, the league and the players’ union would find it in their best interest to end the liberal activism and focus on football,” said 2ndVote. “After all, millions are finding it in their best interest not to watch the NFL at all.”

NFL Veteran: NFL Now Run by 'Liberal, Socialist, Elitists'

Post by Riddick » 10-07-2017 03:46 AM

“Liberal, Socialist elitists” are running the National Football League, ten-year NFL veteran Burgess Owens tells CNSNews.com.

Interviewed on the Conservative Commados Radio Show, Owens, who won a Super Bowl with the Oakland Raiders in 1980, was asked how he thought Pete Rozelle, the NFL commissioner during his playing days, would have reacted if players had protested the National Anthem at games.

He said players were held to higher standards then, as the league was still in the process of branding itself as an “All-American” product: “As a matter of fact, they had a very high standard for players. They expected players to be respectful, to have character, to represent the brand of the NFL.”

“We have now left that age,” Owen said. The NFL is being run by wealthy liberal Socialists whose primary goals are to promote their "more important than anything else" leftist ideology and to do what "couldn’t care less" elites on the Left has always done - exploit the Black community – regardless of societal cost.

The answer, he said, is for Black conservatives like himself to step up, get involved in their communities, and teach positive values to young people:

“Those who care, not just the group-think guys, not just the communists or the socialists, but those who care, it’s now time to put that money back in the community, and themselves, not just throwing money at it, but, go in there and help these young people to realize that, what they have done, anyone can do, if they put the right policies and the right effort in places to make it happen.”

On a related topic from Richard Syrett's Conspiracy Show. This is from March, and deals-with the ultra-Left infiltrating college campuses and how our higher educational system is going full-in to make minority and alternative lifestyles the norm and suppress any other perspective:

What is truly amazing is the groups of people and companies who want to restrict gun ownership, yet, "due to their status" attempt to justify THEIR OWN USE of weapons, either via employment of armed security guards or by living in gated, secured communities away from the peasants and the masses of the great unwashed.

Granted, this list is dated, but makes the point........

NRA Releases List Of Celebrities, Organizations That Support Gun Control

Last updated on January 1, 2014 By M.D. Creekmore

According to the list provided by the NRA, these people and companies have given money and/or support to gun control measures and/or organizations. If you believe in freedom, the Constitution and your right to own the firearms of your choice then please do not support these organizations, companies and/or celebrities.

Here is the complete list:

Nice rant that puts the celebrity hypocrisy into perspective:

Snippet:

These are people who live in upscale communities, behind gated walls, in the shadow of bodyguards and personal assistants. Even the ones who think they are living “regular” lives by eschewing the protectors and gated communities are still afforded a level of privilege that the rest of us can only dream of. They buy what they want, vacation where they want, and eat where and what they want. They don’t have to bother themselves with the same small, everyday decisions as the average American struggling to make ends meet.

They are completely detached from real life in this country, and yet are unable to censor themselves and their every fleeting political thought as if what they think matters more than what we think. This video is the perfect example of the disconnect between celebrity culture and their consumers.

Someone needs to offer these folks a reality check, and I’m happy to do it.
Celebrities, it’s time for you to understand that you don’t live the lives the rest of us do and even your biggest fans understand this.

You aren’t forced to live in the ghetto or deal with the same laws that punish small businesses or law-abiding citizens. Your fame and your wealth insulate you from the consequences of massive legislation like Obamacare. You have the luxury of judging others for feeling concerned about unchecked illegal immigration because you’ll never have to live in a community where the repercussions of that policy are apparent and dangerous. You’ll never have to send your child to a school with metal detectors, so of course you’re against school choice. There are no consequences for you or the people you support.

While the rest of us live in the real world, you live in a world of make believe where everything around you is designed to make you look better than you do and sound better than you do. Your Twitter feeds are filled with adoration over every sentence you utter and your lives are surrounded by “yes-people” whose livelihoods depend on you staying happy and your ego staying unbruised.
