Shock Poll: NFL Now Least Liked Sport, Core Fans Down 31%

Post by Riddick » 10-08-2017 01:52 AM

Over just one month of player, coach, and owner protests of the flag and National Anthem, the National Football League has gone from America's sport to the least liked of top professional and college sports, according to a new poll.

From the end of August to the end of September, the favorable ratings for the NFL have dropped from 57 percent to 44 percent, and it has the highest unfavorable rating – 40 percent – of any big sport, according to the Winston Group survey provided exclusively to Secrets.

Worse for football, which was already seeing lower TV ratings and empty stadium seats, the month of protests and complaints about them from President Trump drove core fans, men 34-54, away, the most significant indicator that NFL brass aren't in touch with their base.

The Winston Poll from the Washington-based Winston Group found that the attitude of those fans went from an August rating of 73 percent favorable and 19 percent unfavorable to 42 percent favorable and 47 percent unfavorable, a remarkable turn against the sport.

According to the poll analysis, "more critically for the NFL, the fall off in favorables occurred among important audiences. Among males, NFL favorables fell 23 percent, going from 68 percent to 45 percent. In looking at a more specific audience, males 34-54, NFL favorables fell 31 percent, going from 73 percent to 42 percent. Among this group the NFL has a surprising negative image, as it went from +54 percent in August to -5 percent in September."

The Winston Poll was of brand images for the NFL, Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, and college football and basketball. It was of 1,000 registered voters and taken August 29-30 and then again September 28-29.

In August, baseball had the highest favorables, just a few points above the NFL.

Just about anyone could see this one coming - anyone except Liberals. I expect to see more sponsors start to pushback, especially for Super Bowl commercial time rates........

Snippet:

But on the other hand, one company has now canceled its sponsorship of the Denver Broncos after the team protested in Week Three.

Before Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, Von Miller and a group of Broncos players took a knee as the anthem played. Though, that was a step too far for Miller’s sponsor, Phil Long Ford in Denver.

According to CBS Denver, Phil Long immediately pulled his ads featuring Von Miller. Though the Ford dealer insisted that he is just “changing ads,” the timing is suspicious coming just after Miller took a knee on Sunday.

Still, from a statement released about the ads, it is clear that Phil Long is not comfortable with the protests.

Here is Long’s statement:

We are evaluating the events of the weekend. It is important to state that we haven’t fired Von. We are in the middle of contract renewal and this weekend’s events remind us that sometimes we feel that we best represent ourselves. We support Von and his first amendment rights, we know Von, and he’s a good person. He donated a police car to his hometown police dept. All that notwithstanding when we bring in celebrities to represent us we run the risk of being misrepresented.

We, like millions of Americans, are concerned and will respond consistently with our values as a proud American company founded by a war hero (Phil Long). While we can’t control the actions of others, we can be responsible for how we support our nation and community. That is why, years ago, our principal owner, Jay Cimino, founded the Mount Carmel Veteran’s Service center, and is supported by all Phil Long Dealerships. We support this cause not just with our words, but financially as well, and it is serving hundreds of veterans in need right here in Colorado. This would be a great time for our community to show support for our military community by supporting this cause or others that continue to serve them after they serve us. https://veteranscenter.org/

With his focus on the veterans, it is clear that Mr. Long did not appreciate Miller’s protests.

Finally, some customers of sponsors are also demanding that support of the NFL be ended.

Members of USAA, an insurance company that caters to members of the military, are organizing to demand that the insurance company drop its sponsorship of the NFL and the company’s community message board section on its website is deluged with demands that USAA dump the NFL.

Thank you Riddick, I Readit :!: Least liked is right and the damage control may never recover what was likeable prior to Kaiperneck's weak kneed protest.

Built atop corn fields, the football stadiums arise, used twenty years, then they get blown down to rubble because the concrete gets too boringly gray? Then cities sell bonds to build another larger one sitting atop another corn field a few miles away on land where you can't make this crap up! :P

Just last night the Seattle Sea Hawks were seen on line pictured in their locker room, partially dressed for battle on Astro Turf. The player in the middle in front of the semi-circle was burning our nation's Old Glory flag while hi$ team mate$ had their mouth$ open $creaming who knows what :!:

All while the former ZZ nazi recruit G. Soros and his paid, bused, black masked minions smile.

PS 10/29/17 kbot, we were posting at nearly the same time and I had not read your great Phill Long car dealer's response as a Bronco sponsor until Riddick posted his good spot on pic. It was obvious American veterans were # 1 in their eyes! 8)

It would be interesting to know who he won that title from on their GQ Citizen of the Year's list.

This would be an easy bet to win knowing that the NFL nor the Chicago Bears stadium's empty seat problems will not be cured during the next 2018 season.

The Death of Football, Why? Although I'm am not much into sports, it has always been apart of our American Heritage , has that become a part of the "Problem"? Those who hate this country apparently, think we should not have "An American Heritage" at all!

That sounds about right. Ridding the country of its heritage is part of the Far Left's plan to turn our sovereign nation into a servile satellite of Centralized Global Gov't.

Trouble is, what really raises their ire is the folks here who still believe in freedom - basically, liberals hate America because there's too many "Americans" living in it!!!

8) Good ole Alfred "What me worry?" Newman's dressed up again with is impersonation of a former NFL quarter back. He's a Time magazine picked winner for sure Riddick, hands down also with one knee down. :?

Aw shucks! Yesterday I missed being able to get another C.K. pic here to join your other great catches you've added to kbot's thread.

:P I did not Re Tweet the "entry" (using a better "word" rather than me typing "tweet" again  ) to save it.

But this bloke was photo shopped alone taking his knee break, his back to the camera, wearing his white jersey shirt 'n #, in the center of a 1944 Higgins boat sitting just off Utah Beach in Normandy, France. While all the brave American soldiers, who'd just stepped off the ramp, were walking in the surf headed east :!: :P

MK II :realmad: It fit's the billing! :raspberry

$5 tickets and $1 beer is their only hope. I'd go just to throw my cheap beer on the kneelers. :P

Why would the knee jerk C.K. influenced N.F.L. patrons sit up high :?: When they could await the start of the game clock and sit down low.
