AnotherReason Why Large Corporations Suck
Large corporations, as we all know, look constantly to improve their bottom line, whether its though their workforce, contracts, energy supply, loan rates, etc.
People who work in healthcare have noticed over the years that a number of suppliers have ben moving their plants out of the continental US to either foreign countries, or parts of the US where they can enjoy certain liberties that they can't here on the mainland.
Take saline for example. Its a vital fluid used in healthcare facilities across the country, as well as a common supply in ambulance and rescue services.
So, it came as a complete shock to the general public when the healthcare system rapidly found itself in crisis mode as the country's saline manufacturing base in Puerto Rico was wiped out thanks to Hurricane Maria...........
A Saline Shortage This Flu Season Exposes a Flaw in Our Medical Supply Chain
Most IV saline bags used in U.S. hospitals are made in Puerto Rico. Hurricane Maria has shown how troubling it can be to rely on one producer
Flu season in the U.S. typically peaks in February, but this year’s outbreak is already one of the worst on record. As of January 6, 20 children have died from the flu, and overall mortality caused by the flu is already double that of last year’s.
One reason the flu is so severe this season is that the dominant strain is H3N2, which has an impressive ability to mutate and is particularly aggressive against Americans over 50.
Making the threat worse is the fact that most of the IV saline bags used in common medical treatments and procedures – including severe cases of the flu – are made in Puerto Rico, which is still reeling from Hurricane Maria. Hospitals in some areas around the country that are operating at or above capacity because of the flu are quickly running low on saline, resorting to time-consuming and potentially dangerous treatments of patients.

Re: AnotherReason Why Large Corporations Suck
I know how everyone hates corporations, but would you believe that they are truly destined to run the best US welfare system in the world. They are the ones with the money to do so, not your neighbor, through government taxes on the people.
It is a shared blame, everything is pretty much run by very lucrative government contract. I would look to your "trusted" Congress people and see just what they are up to and just what they have their greedy little fingers into. You can just bet, that some are getting very rich off the backs of the people. Greed knows no "label" (Democrat/Republican).
That being said, the Democrats fought a long hard battle to keep the designed to fail, Obama Care, and they Won. As far as I'm concerned They Own It. !
Personally , I'm thinking of sending the Democrats a "Thank You Note" every time insurance rates go up, when my Dr quits because they can't make any money to pay off their Huge Government Backed Loans, to get to be a Doctor , when there is a "created" shortage of medical supplies, They will protect you from any "reforming" measure, that might make it better for the people.

I don't hate corporations. What I am stunned by are decisions, such as the saline issue, where one industry puts all their eggs in one basket and when something happens, we're screwed. Their stupidity, lack of planning, lack of effort in using the education with al those letters after their names.
It's like the flu vaccine -s supposedly its effective against something like 12% of the viruses out there. So, by that measure, its ineffective against a broad range of viruses. Despite that, it is MANDATORY for most healthcare workres - you either get it or are fired.
What the heck???????

Here's what I'm talking about..... This was a "No Bid Contract" (should be illegal all by it's self)by the NSA your Government in action With Your Tax Payer Money. Yet everyone will never hear or think about the government being the instigator in this deal, just how Evil the Corporation AT&T is?
The "brainwashing" of the masses into believing the "Coin only has one side" . Now who is going to question that? ME!For one, there must be others out there..........
I would just love to know the Government individual names, who "smoothed" the way for this kind of "Crap", they just had a big payday, "Palms Nicely Greased" as they say!
AT&T Captures Classified NSA Tech Contract
After a bid protest, AT&T can now move forward on work it will carry out under NSA’s classified Groundbreaker contract, worth billions.
The deal follows another $2.4 billion tech contract the NSA awarded in September to tech firm CSRA, which–together with a third contract the NSA has yet to award–will represent a continuation of the Groundbreaker program that dates back to 2001.
Through Groundbreaker, the NSA purchases mission-critical information technology solutions, including its own private cloud, which acts as a repository for the all the agency’s data.

The "Telecoms" never went away, Kbot, they grew into what they are today, by the same token Government has grown right along with with it , our government was Never meant to do that, it was designed to be lean clean, to be a watchdog to keep things on the up and up for the people to govern under a rule of law, , and let us go, be on welfare or be an entrepreneur to make millions, or like most, just be some where in between. But a lot of people think Big Government is better for the people, when just the opposite is true, the bigger it gets the more corrupt it gets, do you know that no one really knows how big our government has become? It has even lost track of itself !
We know what it looks and feels like to be micro-managed , told who is acceptable of not by the color of skin, and who one slept with and who to hate ,some followed an irrational path without question. Government (a good one) is never meant to be your mommy or daddy. Perfect , never! When one gets all peevish, it would be nice, if you just remembered Where you are and that none us are here because we are saints.

Even so, seems to me "in the large" (so much as those instances which end is up may be in doubt!) there's no large deterrent to big gov/big biz racketeers from actively pursuing "too big" ill gotten gains is there? ...Doka wrote: ↑01-26-2018 08:26 PMThe "Telecoms" never went away, Kbot, they grew into what they are today, by the same token Government has grown right along with with it , our government was Never meant to do that, it was designed to be lean clean, to be a watchdog to keep things on the up and up for the people to govern under a rule of law, , and let us go, be on welfare or be an entrepreneur to make millions, or like most, just be some where in between. "Whats Changed?" Now THAT is the question? Isn't it! Back off a little bit, so you can see a bigger picture, not just the trees but the whole forest........
Trump happened. He has ever been fighting thumb, tooth and toenail, to shift the financial burden from the American People to out there where the really big money is! He is loosening the "ties' That suppress us as individuals, so we can all fly and make millions to add to the pot if we want to, we will be free to do so! He is not into "Domination"' of the American People.
Look around , what are countries like Europe, Canada, the Obama Countries doing for the last year?..... Raising taxes, (Carbon Taxes, etc) , Importing their own invaders that is NOT Beneficial to their citizens, they are making their citizens Pay for it too.! Ah, Socialism at its finest, they can all be like the people of Venezuela, and never figure out "What Happened to them! .
As I have said over and over our government has over the years been turned into one of the largest Corporations in the World, so now Trump is going to run it as such, going out for beneficial trade deals, that only make, the people more prosperous , Get the money from those who have it, not from the people , They Claim They Serve! We can enjoy our tax breaks, while being offered the millions of jobs being created, that hopefully start tweaking some interest. We are headed for , Prosperity , the likes we've never seen before. Sure some are going to scream and yell and bi#$h all the way, I Won't be one of them. Maybe it will even "inspire" those in other countries, that there own people love and make changes for themselves, and their own people, instead of being used as "Tools of Destruction" everywhere else.
WHAT CHANGED? Everything.

"Catch us if you can". What's Trump gonna do? Deny them bail(outs) and put 'em in jail like common criminals? This is the Elite we're talkin' about. The Globalist crime cartel didn't get all this way just to fail.
Basically, what Forest Ranger The Donald doesn't know won't hurt them! - As it is, he can only be President 8 years, max. And that's provided both the American economy, AND Trump stay healthy KWIM?
It's especially all different for the Democrats. They can't get over everything not going their way. Lost in the woods, the poor babies are so deranged their sole solution is to take a chainsaw to the trees. Not that desperation has gotten them anywhere. Try as they might the Dem leadership can't stump the Trump!

I saw this story yesterday and almost passed out. Look, I KNOW that there are issues with healthcare, but when I look at these companies and their "we're gonna fix healthcare".............. Berkshire Hathaway, while certainly successful, isn't very popular around here as they acquired textile mils, and promptly shut them down - shipping jobs first down south then overseas.
Chace bank? Really??????? Can you say "data-breach??
And Amazon - I get it - "economy of scale, but what kind of services will these companies offer??
Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan Team Up to Try to Disrupt Health Care
SEATTLE — Three corporate behemoths — Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan Chase — announced on Tuesday that they would form an independent health care company for their employees in the United States.
The alliance was a sign of just how frustrated American businesses are with the state of the nation’s health care system and the rapidly spiraling cost of medical treatment. It also caused further turmoil in an industry reeling from attempts by new players to attack a notoriously inefficient, intractable web of doctors, hospitals, insurers and pharmaceutical companies.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/30/tech ... -care.html
Perhaps, rather than creating a new system, why not get rid of all the rules imposed by the government by way of CMS regulations that makes the system so bad in the first place?

Patience.........
Currently the Democrats own the Health Care system. I haven't checked on any proposals they may have come up with to make Obama Care better for the people? So I guess it's just a "Wait And See" deal.

So this just got rolled-out at the hospital where I work. Being the conspiracy theorist that I am and finding data breach written all over it, I have my concerns........
More hospitals using fingerprint scans for patient ID
To identify patients, some hospitals are exploring the use of biometric technology – specifically fingerprint recognition. The approach has both benefits and drawbacks.
Biometric technology is growing in popularity. At first, it was only seen in sci-fi movies. But now, this technology is common in several aspects of modern life.
For example, many companies use biometric timekeeping systems for payroll purposes. And some of the newest smartphones come equipped with the ability to identify users based on their fingerprints.
Now hospitals are jumping on the bandwagon, too.

Re: AnotherReason Why Large Corporations Suck
And, almost right on cue...........
India's 1.2 billion citizen national database reportedly breached
India's national ID database containing the information of nearly 1.2 billion people was breached with cybercriminals selling access to the information for $8, though officials deny the extent of the incident.
On Jan. 3, 2018, The Indian Tribune claimed to have purchased access to the stolen information containing the names, addresses, dates of birth, mobile numbers, all ten fingerprints, and iris scans of the country's citizens. India started collecting the information into a centralized government database called Aadhaar to create a voluntary identity system in 2010.
The publication was also able to purchase software” that could enable a user to print Aadhaar cards after entering the Aadhaar number of any individual.
Last November UIDAI, the Unique Identification Authority of India, asserted the database is safe and secure and that no leak or breach had occurred. When the Tribune contacted the government agency about the breach, officials expressed shock and admitted it seemed to be a major national security breach before consulting UIDAI technical consultants.
The Tribune estimates that a racket may have started around six months ago when anonymous groups were created on WhatsApp to target more than 300,000 village-level enterprise (VLE) operators hired by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (ME&IT) under the Common Service Centres Scheme (CSCS) across India. The operators would have had access to the UIDAI data and any compromised operators would have provided a potential entry point for the breach.
More than 100,000 village-level enterprise operators are suspected to have gained illegal access to UIDAI data to provide “Aadhaar services” to common people for a charge, including the printing of Aadhaar cards, the publication said.
The database was also vulnerable as anyone can access or become admins of the official Aadhaar database as long as they are invited by someone who is already an admin, according to The Quint.
The Tribune's report was dismissed as “fake news” by India's Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party. UIDAI denied the Tribune report and told BuzzFeed “Aadhaar data including biometric information is fully safe and secure.”
The incident has since sparked a police probe into the incident. Even if the database wasn't breached, researchers advise against aggregated databases such as Aadhaar as they pose a risk to the privacy of citizens.
https://www.scmagazine.com/access-to-in ... le/735276/
The way I see it, these products do wonders for the companies that sell them, but as with any data system, they're hackable. In addition to the standard name, date of birth, address, social security number we can now add fingerprints to the list of information being collected "for your safety......."
