North Korea Launches 3rd Missile In As Many Weeks

Post by Riddick » 05-29-2017 09:43 PM

The short-range ballistic missile North Korea launched Monday traveled an estimated 248 miles, splashing down within Japan's exclusive economic zone, an area of sea where commercial ships are known to operate, according to statements from both the Japanese government and the South Korean military.

South Korea and Japan immediately issued strong protests, with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe promising "concrete action" in response to the test, and South Korean defense chiefs saying the North would face "strong punishment from our military."

Despite that rhetoric, the allies have not given North Korea any "red lines" which it cannot cross or face a military strike. Even if a military response was considered, the repercussions could be catastrophic.

Any pre-emptive military strike on North Korea would put South Korean and Japanese civilian populations, as well as US military installations within those countries, at risk for a North Korean counterstrike. Some estimates put 25 million civilians at risk in the Seoul metropolitan area alone.

Current economic sanctions imposed by the United Nations and others seem to have done nothing to slow North Korea's missile program. Analysts say all of North Korea's tests, successful or not, provide information that help bring it closer to its goal of building a missile that could reach the US.

North Korea has said its missile testing is in reaction to threats against it by the South, the United States and Japan.

Saw this and thought that this would be a game-changer, although the technology really isn't proven under actual battlefield conditions.....

US successfully 'intercepts and destroys' target in missile test

http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/30/politics/ ... orea-iran/

Then I saw this.......

Russia ‘will launch hypersonic jets that can overcome than ANY anti-missile system by next year’

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/3685556/r ... s-race-us/

It's like it's 1975 all over again...........

Hypersonic Hyperventilation

Surely it's not as bad as that, is it?

Ok, so Russia will have anti anti-missile hypersonic jets. But does that need mean a new arms race with the US is inevitable?

Even if it does, what's the concern? It's not like Hillary is Commander In Chief and Democrats control Congress. Truly, the only thing we have to fear is an anti-military mentality.

That said, even in the unlikely event everything goes to hell? There's nothing wrong with being prepared. We'll know when Ivanka Trump leads the way with radiation suits being the latest fashion trend.

In any event, don't worry, be happy. America WILL BE GREAT again - Und DAT is all da people need to know!

Stocks? Oh Sure! But weapons themselves, and survival gear in general, it's all good.

Riddick, you've done a Yeoman's job posting the on line posters dealing with our whacked out times.

Your topic in the news, ad nauseum, on the holdover, still communist North Korea needs a bit more to go with your many entries related to prepping.

You wrote, "Stocks? Oh Sure! But weapons themselves, and survival gear in general, it's all good."

Let's add another one to your short list. :fortune:

I rate this Pink Floyd rock ballad the spookiest song in the long history of music!

"Sorrow" with lyrics - by Pink Floyd from their 1986-87 album, the UK music :raspberry critics derided endlessly, A Momentary Lapse of Reason!

How about one more before you go :?: It's a long scroll down page 2.......... :!: :fortune:

The USS Pueblo is still docked on the Potong River as a tourist attraction in Pyongyang!

News Flash :!:

Mt. Mantap in North Korea tops off the surrounding peaks and valleys where ALL of Kim's nuke tests have taken place. The mountainous area is leaking radiation and last night's radio news on conservative shows and Coast to Coast AM included this concern.

Now Chinese scientists are speaking up and here is that news that hopefully will make a difference in Kim's nuclear race to threaten the whole health of this spinning, life giving planet!

It's not good to read and also it's not good to fool Mother Nature who's never lost one foolish environmental game of thrones begun by mankind!

Looking scary............

North Korea threat: EMP attack can destroy a nation’s entire infrastructure in a flash

KIM Jong-un needs only one hydrogen bomb to bring America to its knees. And he knows it. This is the nation-wide effect it can have in nanoseconds.
Jamie Seidel News Corp Australia Network September 5, 201711:40am

DETONATING a thermonuclear warhead 400km above Washington would instantly fry most of the nation’s power grid — and electronics.

The idea is not about melting a city, set enormous fires and irradiate vast tracks of terrain.

It’s about eliminating a nation’s entire infrastructure in a single flash.

There’s little surprise that North Korean state media has been lauding the power of Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP).

This is where the gamma radiation of a high-altitude nuclear blast interacts with the ionosphere — a blanket of electrons and electrically charged particles surrounding the Earth — to send a series electromagnetic pulses spearing into the ground below.

Once this burst of radiation strikes the ground it can induce strong currents — particularly in electrical cables and phone lines. This can overload and destroy electrical networks, as well as cause delicate circuit boards to fuse.

An entire economy can be brought to a standstill in nanoseconds.

In the words of former director of the CIA James Woolsey, it would bring the United States “to a cold, dark halt”.

Gulp! Thanks for the link kbot. Satellite night views comparing South Korea to North Korea show SK lit up all over and NK dark over 95% of their Dear Leader's lands!

Eating grass and select weeds is what most do daily and Putin knows his weapons 'n big buy'n neighbors so well.

So we can't say NK is concerned about losing juice nationwide or cooler/freezer stored foods. :|

Let's pray China will convince NK to stop polluting China with radiation. But the mountain will always leak radiation and it's too late now for a protest, as the 6 nuke tests awaits # 7!

MK II Thanks again kbot and now they've said what we thought they were thinking.

It's worrisome MK. Depending on who's analyzing the data, mortality rates could go to over 90%. Most people will lose their jobs as electricity will be out. No gas for cars, and if you bank electronically, you're outta luck......... Kiss medications god bye and learn to live like it's 1850. Even though the American nuclear arsenal is hardened for a return strike, by then it will be too late for many people here. Not a good prospect.........

The next executive order out of the White House should be fast signed for hardening the electrical grid nation wide!

I will Tweet that request to our NYC POTUS today just like I did soon after the election. I sent forward Duke Energy's Tweet about spending over billion $ just in Indiana for "Up Grades" to include Smart Meters! :realmad: I wrote protecting "their grid" for common sense would be money better well spent!

Putting this dire topic on the "back burner" in D.C., like it STILL seems to be, may someday too soon see us all in forests gathering wood and or picking up the scattered coal along highways and rail road tracks kbot!

Headed to the vet now with our ailing golden retriever........

Safe travels MK - my Dad and father-in-law used to tell me stories about scouting the rail lines looking for coal/ coke. When they were kids the mills were still operating and there were freight trains coming and going and the old Fall River Line was sailing with everyone from the rich as powerful such as US presidents and other politicians for visits to the area and the Newport elites for trips to their "cottages", to immigrants travelling from Ellis Island SE New England looking for work - it was quite a trip. For the time, the side-wheeled steamers were quite elegant and provided the quickest route between New York and Boston with connecting trains in Fall River. We must be doing something wrong MK..........

Those two elegant limestone mansions back then and now were "some?" cottages kbot! The Puritan cruise ship's pic is great too! :) Thanks for all three.

US and local Massachusetts history is #1 on your plate, with your many good notations we've seen here and elsewhere. Your family's experience during coal/coke picking times were a first hand insight I'd never heard from any American! :) But it happened as fact.

It's not worth mentioning, but an EMP attack, anywhere, is awaiting a first in world history! There would be no winners afterwards coming onshore to claim their crippled prize. Sadly mutual assured destruction still lurks ONLY in sane minds world wide.
