More Muslim attacks on Christians

Post by kbot » 04-09-2017 11:37 AM

Simply cannot divert attention or attempt to put a huggy-feely spin on this - once again, Christians are under attack (literally) by Muslims in Muslim countries.

Egypt: Coptic Church bombs hit Tanta and Alexandria

Hours after Sunday’s church bombing in Egypt’s northern city of Tanta, came another blast in front of a Christian church in Alexandria.

Reports quoting the interior ministry on Sunday afternoon said 18 people had died and some 40 injured in a suicide bombing outside St Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral.

The dead are said to include three policemen who lost their lives when the suicide bomber they prevented from entering the church blew himself up.

The Coptic Pope is said to have been in the building at the time but was not harmed.

The news agency Amaq, close to the so-called Islamic State, has said that ISIL has claimed responsiblity for both Sunday’s attacks.

The earlier explosion in Tanta left at least 25 dead and dozens more injured.

Christians are marking Palm Sunday ahead of Easter.

They have suffered many attacks in Egypt since 2013 when the army deposed the former Islamist president Mohammad Mursi.

Multiple attacks on Coptic Christians once again during what are to Christians the start of the high holy days. Usually, Obama didn't do much to the Muslims other than a "stop it" scolding. Hopefully Trump will do more to protect Christians in the Mideast since Obama showed he wasn't interested.

The health and welfare of Christians in general was never high on Barry's list.

But hey! At least the annual WH Easter egg roll event always went smoothly -

Still, clearly seen he's just a shell of a mighty man next to the Easter Bunny!

I'm trying for the life of me to figure out what it is that the Democrats have against Christians. If it were any other group, the Left would raise such a he and cry and demand that the UN met in emergency sessions. These attacks in the Mideast are nothing new - in fact they're only the tip of the iceberg.

This is a story that occurred recently in Egypt:

Egypt: Aid to Martyrs' Families
Posted: April 3, 2017

After seven Christians were martyred during a three-week period in Egypt’s North Sinai Peninsula, nearly 300 families fled the region.

The killings, conducted by Wilayat Sinai – the Egyptian affiliate of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (ISIS), have shaken the Christian community there.

A VOM worker recently met with families – including women who were widowed by the attacks. VOM provided food and blankets for 50 families living in the Evangelical church in Ismailia city.

To date, nearly 290 families or about 1,100 people, have fled Arish in Northern Sinai, spreading out to about 10 cities throughout Egypt. The largest group of displaced people – 176 families or 668 people – have fled to Ismailia.

The Egyptian government has promised to provide housing for each of the families. At the government’s request, Christians in the region are donating to help cover the housing needs of their brothers and sisters.

Those who fled to Ismalia faced community resistance at first, though the local Evangelical church offered help right away.

“People were excited while they were sharing with me about the love they found in the Evangelical church and told me that the leaders there are doing their best to make these families happy,” the VOM worker said.

New families continue to flee the Sinai region every day. VOM continues to meet with Christian leaders in Ismailia and elsewhere to determine how we can further help these families, especially the families of the seven martyrs.

The Seven Martyrs

Wa’el Yousef – martyred Jan. 30

Wa’el, 35, was the owner of a supermarket on a crowded street in Arish. On the day he was killed, Wa’el was at his market with his pregnant wife and one of their two sons. Suddenly, four masked, armed young men attacked his shop. The militants dragged Wa’el’s wife out of the shop by her hair and then shot Wa’el in the abdomen, shoulders and chest. Weeks after his death, Wa’el’s wife gave birth to their baby girl.

Adel Shawky – martyred Feb. 11

Adel, 57, lived in the El Samran area in Arish. He was shot in the head.

Dr. Bahgat Welliam – martyred Feb. 12

Dr. Bahget, 58, owned a veterinary clinic in Arish. He was in his pharmacy when masked young men entered and pulled him out to the street in front of the pharmacy and shot him in the head. Dr. Bahgat has a son, Marcos, 16, and a daughter, Demiana, 14.

Gamal Tawfik Gergis – martyred Feb. 16

Gamal, 45, was a teacher who also had a small business selling shoes and socks. Gamal, who has six children, was with his wife when he was killed in the market where he ran his business. Two young men met the couple as they walked through the market. After they asked Gamal what his name was and he confirmed his identity, they shot him in the head. The militants took the money out of Gamal’s pocket and warned bystanders in the market not to come closer to Gamal or to try help or save him.

Gamal and his wife have six children: Mary, 23; Youssef, 22; Sara, 17; Mena, 16; Ibrahim, 12; and Mariam, 6.

Saad Hakim Hanna and Medhat Saad Hakim – martyred Feb. 21

Saad, 65, and his son, Medhat, 45, were killed on the same day. Saad was shot several times in the head. His body was found in the streets of Arish. Medhat was abducted and burned alive.

Kamel Raoof Kamel – martyred Feb. 24

Kamel, 40, was a plumber. Armed men shot him in front of his wife and their five children. They also burned his house. Kamel’s wife and children escaped as the attackers chased Kamel onto the roof of his house, where he attempted to hide.

Interesting article about Rev. Richard Wurmbrand, the founder of a group Voice of the Martyrs, whose mission it is to bring attention of persecuted Christians to the people of the West. Although I am neither Anglican, Lutheran or Evangelical I found his story and the story of the group compelling. I've read his book and it is an eye-opener to just how bad things are in the world.

Snippet:

Many people called him the “Voice of the Underground Church” and others referred to him as the “Iron Curtain St. Paul.” This humble man who began the ministry of The Voice of the Martyrs was the Rev. Richard Wurmbrand. Richard’s life was a partnership with the equally amazing Sabina, whom he married on October 26, 1936.

Richard Wurmbrand was born the youngest of four boys in a Jewish family on March 24, 1909, in Bucharest, Romania. Gifted intellectually and fluent in nine languages, Richard was active in leftist politics and worked as a stockbroker.

After their marriage, Richard and Sabina were converted to Christ in 1938, chiefly because of the influence of a German carpenter, Christian Wölfkes. They joined the Anglican Mission to the Jews in Bucharest. Richard was ordained, first as an Anglican, and then after World War II as a Lutheran minister.

During World War II, Richard and Sabina saw an opportunity for evangelism among the occupying German forces. They preached in the bomb shelters and rescued Jewish children out of the ghettos. Richard and Sabina were repeatedly arrested and beaten and, at least once, nearly executed. Sabina lost her Jewish family in Nazi concentration camps.

In 1945 Romanian Communists seized power and a million “invited” Russian troops poured into the country. Pastor Wurmbrand ministered to his oppressed countrymen and engaged in bold evangelism to the Russian soldiers.

That same year, Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand attended the Congress of Cults organized by the Romanian Communist government. Many religious leaders came forward to praise Communism and to swear loyalty to the new regime. Sabina said, “Richard, stand up and wash away this shame from the face of Christ.” Richard warned, “If I do so, you’ll lose your husband.”

“I don‘t wish to have a coward as a husband,” she replied. Thus Richard declared to the 4,000 delegates, whose speeches were broadcast to the whole nation, that their duty is to glorify God and Christ alone.

Between 1945 and 1947, Richard distributed 1 million Gospels to Russian troops, often disguising the books as Communist propaganda. Richard also smuggled Gospels into Russia. On December 30, 1947, the People’s Republic of Romania was proclaimed.

Richard Wurmbrand kidnapped

On February 29, 1948, the secret police arrested Richard while on his way to church and took him to their headquarters. He was locked in a solitary cell and labeled ‘Prisoner Number 1.’

In 1950, his wife Sabina was also imprisoned. She was forced to serve as a laborer on the Danube Canal project, leaving their nine-year-old son, Mihai, alone and homeless. Following her release in 1953, the Romanian authorities informed her that Richard had died in prison.

A Christian doctor masquerading as a Communist Party member discovered Richard alive in prison. In a general amnesty, Richard was released in 1956 after serving eight-and-a-half years in prison. He was warned never to preach again. While in prison, he went through horrific tortures at the hands of the brutal secret police. Despite the treatments and the warnings he received from his persecutors, Richard resumed his work with the “underground” churches after his release.

He was re-arrested in 1959 through the conspiracy of an associate, and sentenced to 25 years. He was accused of preaching ideas contrary to Communist doctrine. Due to increased political pressure from Western countries, Richard was granted another amnesty and released in 1964.

Usually, when one is killed for heir faith (which, honestly is the case here), the term "martyr" is correctly used. These people were targeted and killed precisely because of their faith. Don't go Obama on me.......

I'm saying the word "Martyr" used to have a more meaningful connotation, today, we have a "World Full Of Martyrs", live ones, who "suffer" greatly. For their religion or otherwise. Some even to the point of death. The days of Joan of Ark are over. Most don't know and some just don't care.

OK.........

One of the attacks was on a church where the pope of the Coptic Catholic Church was present. Was a direct attack directed at a specific individual as well as others present during the start of the Church's high holy days. Hardly a random issue.

Knowing Obama and Hillary, I'm sure they'd flippantly ascribe it to "workplace violence" as they've done before.....

Again just my opinion, but also shared by others. The fact that the "Christians" will be only the 1st to fall, the rest of Non-Muslims will come later. There is such a profound ignorance of what Islam really is. It has already become the most tolerated and protected religion/ideology in the world. The brainwashed masses have no clue, and have made their "Victory" so easy.

Of course, when we have our alleged "leaders" proclaiming that rather than responding to attacks - whether on the WTC 9/11 style or of the cultural aspect, we should all just "hug a terrorist..."

And, just in time for the holydays/ holidays........

Christianity's prospects of surviving in its birthplace are grim

Prospects of Christianity surviving in its birthplace, the Middle East, appear as grim this Holy Week as they have at any time in the last two millennia.

Persecution of the world’s largest religion has intensified throughout the 20th century and that trajectory has only intensified in recent years, especially in Muslim-dominated countries. Jihadists appear to have repeatedly carried out one of their oft-stated goals of erasing any trace of Christianity in some regions, while in others persecution against Christians and other religious minorities are being held at bay — for now.

The actual prospects facing Christianity in three of its longest-standing strongholds, Syria, Egypt and Iraq, vary significantly. But a blind eye is often turned by the mainstream media and others when it comes to anti-Christian atrocitieswhich have become an all-too-common way of life for many in the Mideast.

What follows is a summary of challenges facing Christians in each of these three areas.

Knights Of Columbus CEO: ‘No Excuse’ For Gov’t ‘Inaction’ On Saving Christianity In Iraq

Post by Riddick » 09-14-2017 03:16 PM

In an op-ed on The Hill, Knights of Columbus CEO Carl Anderson excoriated the U.S. government for “inaction” on saving Christianity in Iraq from the hands of ISIS, saying, “there is no excuse” for American bureaucrats not keeping with historical precedent on this issue.

“Why American bureaucrats have not reacted in keeping with the historical precedent in this instance is unclear,” stated Carl Anderson. “But there is no excuse for the inaction.”

The survival of Christianity and pluralism in the Middle East “may well lie in the hands of the U.S. Senate,” said Anderson on The Hill. As a result of the Senate’s inaction, and despite promises from President Trump and statutory obligations, any meaningful amount of American aid has not yet been forthcoming. FULL STORY
