Kind of looks like my bookcases with the exception of mine hold books.:D I stopped counting long time ago.

That sounds like my brother's place. Fourth floor or so. The old wood floors were so loud, that we had to put two layers of throw rugs down to form pathways through the place, or the people underneath would call up and ball us out.

And the vertical pipes were installed in such a way that any conversation you had above a whisper could be heard in the places above & below you! The guy below would call my brother, and to prove how 'loud' we were being, he would repeat entire conversations which were originally had at normal conversational volume.

The kicker was the place cost extra, because a certain amount of sky was visible through the window.

It was a unique experience.

HA!

Sold. At your service! <bows deeply>

Actually 'pwned' is one of those internet thingys. It means the same thing as 'owned', as in 'I got owned', which means I got 'ruled' or 'faced' (as we said in the '80s). In other words, I was outwitted by the cabbies and the other fares (who did not have large items in tow).

I think 'pwned' was a common typo that simply became vernacular.

I think Bart wound up insulating all the pipes but the hot water one in the bathroom...that pipe was the bathroom's only source of heat!

Actually, I'll just RENT your talent so you can keep your copyrights. ;)

As far as the "internet owned" thing, I don't believe in ownership of anything. We are students, teachers, custodians, but never owners. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.;)

my apartment is a walk-up railroad as well, but thankfully I am only on the second floor :)

As for noise, not too bad here - we're all noisy as can be :D

Yeah, I think he wrapped the pipes too, at least in the main room.

All in all, I stayed there awhile (on and off) and really liked it. We just didn't spent too much time in the apartment, because we had to be so ridiculously quiet. Living in Brooklyn was a little more realistic to me.

You are so right, research is my passion, Ancient History, archeology, science, physics, am currently doing a lot of research on the Gnostic's, especially their cosmology and the Archons.

Hungry hunter? Me too. This lifetime is not long enough for the "stuff" I want to learn.

You know, now that I am recalling all of this, I remember hearing the constant clamor of garbage trucks - which is good, because the garbage has to go. But that apartment must have been on the route or something. I remember imagining the entire waste management aspect of the city - the hugeness of it, the mob, the homeless barges, the vast landfills somewhere out of town.

London, for instance, does not seem to have nearly the amount of garbage trucks.
