Actually 'pwned' is one of those internet thingys. It means the same thing as 'owned', as in 'I got owned', which means I got ruled, or I was outwitted by the cabbies and the other fares (who did not have large items in tow).
I think 'pwned' was a common typo that simply became vernacular.
