Just thought I'd tell you.
For all you Art Bell fans out there I thought I would throw you a bone. I was listening to him last night on ham radio via the internet. Toward the end of the night he said something very revealing. The 3840 group was taking questions via a phone line. One of the callers stated he missed Art and wished he would come back. Art stated "you never know, in a year and 10 months maybe so. Nothing is as it seems." This seems to confirm the theory proposed on this board that Art is definitely under some sort of gag order and also has a "no compete" clause in his C2C contract. Maybe Art isn't as "burned out" as I thought he was. Just thought I'd let you know what I heard.

Hey, Bup, thanks for the news. It was big of you to post this message, considering your other posts about Art. You see, Bup, folks with a calling, no matter what their field, never really give up their work. They can't. But they sometimes need to recharge their batteries. In Art's case, I'd say he's also being true to himself, which is one of the big prizes that comes with a calling. Lots of people just go to work. A lucky few actualize and manifest themselves on a higher, creative, innovative, fulfilling level. Art's one of those, and I trust his process.

You don't have to believe everything that you think...
Well what seems to be as it seems is that Art likes to reinforce this phrase. Although, was that his exact phrasing? I mean, if we're (and by that I mean "me") are going to tear GN apart for using the word "never" then I guess Art is being similarly careless by using the word "nothing". Although, one could argue that the implied context is "nothing, as relates to the topic of Art leaving C2C" whereas GN's use of the word "never" cannot really be similarly narrowed.<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by bupper1:

Ahh, semantics, gotta love it.

I wish someone would come forward and corroborate what Art said. It seems I'm the only one who heard it. It came very late in the evening. I believe it was the second to last phone call. It's important because it has been proposed that Art had a 2 year "no compete" clause with c2c. 1 year and 10 months from now would be close to 2 years since his last show. This would explain a lot of things if you really stop and think about it. Apparently Art really did hate working for c2c which explains his excessive absenteeism. I'd be curious to know what c2c did to piss him off so much.

I absolutely agree with Bupper. I noticed that he started to sound a tad impatient after his audio ended and not quite his jovial self. I thought it was because his back was playing him up. But he did make it clear that it was not his idea and that he had no control over it. I believe he will be back somehow, it's in his blood.

Art was really quite upset when the free streaming ended, and he even mentioned once that he was negotiating with Premrad to lower the fee...something that never happened.
He had a very good reason to be angry: That is, he had a large worldwide fan base, and the International line was quite busy. He knew that with free live streaming audio, calls from other countries would largely fall off. Thank God our own "MAD" stuck around, huh?
