Whitley's journal entry is very touching. I hope everyone gets a chance to read it.
And Art, GOD blessed you with Ramona and you have many memories. I hope you can live every day to the fullest with those memories to help get you through.
We're all that much stronger for having had Ramona and yourself in our lives.

would it be a incredible if Art expanded and perfected a communication devise like spiritcom? Image if Art went down in history right along side Alexander Graham Bell and His Telephone.
I hope the engineers out there are developing those communication devises right now.
I'm so heart broken for Art that I'm trying to see a bright side for Art and his future.

it's been awhile for me, too, I heard the news live on c2c....I was simply devasted and wept.. for Romona, for Art.
I have not stopped thinking of Art and his Romona . every day I send prayers and loving thoughts.
Art, you just will never know the lives you both have touched. And how all those lives are now reaching out to you, in loving compassion, and help in carrying this burden right beside of you.

I remember hearing, quite a few years ago, and before his 2 retirements, Art mention Ramona's asthma attacks. It might have been after a particularly volatile attack, but I remember hearing the shock in his voice. That's really the first time that asthma showed up on my radar screen. I had never thought it would be a life and death matter til I heard him mention it.
He saw the struggles his Ramona was going through every time she had an attack and he might have noticed that her attacks were getting worse and barely controllable. The unthinkable was always lurking.
In retrospect, (to me, anyway) it's not inconceivable to think that his retirement was based on his acceptance that time spent with Ramona was "borrowed time" - if he couldn't have quantity, he would have quality time for however many years they had together, while putting his other love on the back burner. Only he knew how tenuous her life was.
How hard it must have been (all is not what it seems) to carry it off in the face of all the criticism and nastiness that was thrown at him.
I can't tell you how much I respect the man and the love he had for his wife.

I too heard Art talking about this, but on smeter.net, talking to his buddies, after one of Ramona's severe attacks, he sounded so relieved because he said he thought she wasn't going to make it through, that it was such a bad attack. I believe that if he didn't retire because of this , in retrospect, I'm sure he is glad that they were able to spend much more time together without having the scheduling restraints of the nightly show.
Continued thoughts of Peace and Love to the Bell family and to Ramona's family as well.
