SCENE: Interior: Castle
Lightning and thunder clash outside.
In walks a hunched over figure. He/she/it is wearing
a cloak with the head covered up. He/she/it is a demon
known as PremRat lawyer #1. It walks, hesitantly upon
a bigger dark figure standing looking out a huge window
(ala Darth Vader) It is PremRat lawyer #2.

PremRat 1: E-excuse me Master?

PremRat 2: (Hissing)How dare you disturb me!
What do you want?

PremRat 1: I-it’s the Pirates on the Fantastic Forum.

PremRat 2: (Turning around quickly) AGAIN?!!
What have they done now?

PremRat 1: They’re giving away Classic Art Bell shows
to each other for FREE!

PremRat 2: What does that word “free” mean?

PremRat 1: At no cost. No profit.

get away with this!! Why won’t they listen

LOL! I really got a kick out of reading this, Crow. The sad thing, though, is that its more truth than fiction.

I'm sure if they could make a buck they could; I guess the not so surprising issue is why they're not moving in that direction.

My guess would be a risk of cannibalizing their 'live market' POS (point of sales opportunities) vs any revenue they could generate from the sale of archive disks...not of course to mention the loss of affilates, which affects ratings and further POS opportunity ) advertisindg $$ galore), but likely more importantly rating status for the show/network via Arbitron.

Those who don't listen to Coast of today, will have no opportunity to be seduced by HGH or Super Prostrate Whatever...subscribe to After Dark for the incredible value for 14 issues for the price of 12, not to mention, a Streamlink membership, which generates revenue of $6.95/month/subscriber.

I would suppose the PremRat moles that be, have figured out that many of us here, would prefer to listen to archives, from what we have posted, than listen to the program as it exists today.

That said though, they are likely discussing ' Chinese dollars'.

As I've stated in my post, they have received their revenue from C Crane & co for advertising their products, via 'versacorder'. They still encourage the use of this product for taping current Coast programs and even sharing with 'friends', by George's own commercial....by gosh, he even tapes his favorite programs for later replay and shares with his friends. They have made $$ on Streamlink from those subscribers who locked in when Art was still in the chair, for the ability to listen to recent past programs as well as to listen/have access to, 2 Classic Art Bell Shows per week.

Since they no longer offer the product, make revenue from the product, it seems that they have little at stake here, other than the branding of Coast to Coast AM today with Noory vs. the real Coast to Coast with Art Bell.

If this truly is their only issue ( other than potential future plans to package and distrubte these classics for sale), than I would say it seems they have little confidence in the show at the helm of the current host/s, that they broadcast daily, today.

BTW.....I find it fascinating that with the 1121 registered users on Streamlink from the potential 10M listeneres in the free marketplace, that only 3 have chosen to post a reply to my thread....tx Paradisio for coming forward!!

Predictibley, there is no response from George, Lex or any other PremRat brat....but hey....the thread is still standing...atleast at 3:27 EST on June 14, 2003.

Not a lawyer here, but as the recordings I have were sanctioned by the owner of them, via statements made during advertisements for the versa-corder, and as none of those recordings have the required copyright notice, and as the current owners of the trademark "C2C' name are not offering these recordings for sale, they have no legal right to prevent sale or transfer of these items. True, they can hassle and threaten, and drag someone into court and sue, which they will lose------but after draining all of someones bank account in legal fees.... So-----hmmmm-----seems to me they have no claim to the old "CBC" trademark, or any recordings made from years of radio and free streaming content. The only claim they might have is to the taped programs sold, and then only if they can prove a loss, which they can't do as they don't offer them.
All of my oldies are legal, and I have none, and will have none, since priemier took over, I signed no release "for valuable consideration" of my property with them---(damn mouse froze up before I finished my rant-----theyre watching!!)
Anyone with an internet connection can find anything online, and if they want to hassle---there are other ways.
I do understand the positition of the board owner (s) and will respect it, and would respect the wishes of the master of talk too if he should so request.
I might have respected a request by priemrat, if asked nicely, but as it is----NEVER

It appears as though PremRad/Clear Channel aren't so hip to FREE SPEECH. Especially since the post was a legitimate consumer complaint that was carried out in a thoughtful and respectful manner. Hmmmm... Will they protect our Free Speech so industriously when they own all the media?

I don't know about you guys/gals, but when my rights are being violated I choose civil disobedience.
If the law is an ass, and really what laws are we breaking? Then ignore it. It makes me dig deeper into the vaults and hoards of tapes and ignore these nefarious creatures.
We mostly all agree, the new coast sucks, really sucks.
So what do we want? Art Bell! No imitations, no smoke and mirrors or pseudo intellectuals, or demented dorks, we want the original, the best and brightest and that is Art Bell.
If they won't let us listen to the archives on their terms, we will listen to them on our terms!
Personally. I've been pulling my punches when i post about previous shows, not wanting to give away all the details, but rather waiting for new listeners to listen to them and decide for themselves. Well, the gloves are off!
Each week now I'm going to post a review of a classic show, point for point and expose the "darkness in high places."
This is what it is all about - censorship.
We are being incrementally dumbed down.
Look at TV today - what a friggin' joke. Radio is much the same.
The news now is more entertainment than news. What can you learn from a 2 second sound bite? Nothing. That's what they really want- a dumb population with no moral compass to be pushed and prodded like a cow to slaughter.
Art Bell was a counter point to all the censored, controlled monopolized mainstream media and we responded in kindness - big time. Art had the largest listening audience of intelligent people assembled anywhere ever and the powers that be don't like it. That's my take on all of this - power and control.

Interesting. But since I'm not a Streamlink member nor will I ever be under the current management and conditions, I'm unable to peruse the opinions expressed there. I guess the cowards feel more comfortable talking behind my back. With a doofus like George running the show that's not surprising. But if they wanna come visit me here and discuss something that would be delightful. Be forewarned, I'd love to go a few rounds and I hit back rather hard.
