NYC Hoarders Apartment Fire! Instant Sidewalk Rummage Sale!

Post by Malaria_Kidd II » 02-22-2017 10:44 AM

The FDNY firefighters don't mess around with their needs to find the seat of an apartment's fire! 8) Check out the dead or hibernating vines attached to the brick work too.

OMGosh!

As a local firefighter/past district fire chief I've encountered just two of these same situations in our fire district and it's beyond weird to actually experience what is in this New York City news!

How could the older couple have a Yard Sale when there's no yard? Or have a Garage Sale when there is no garage!

Thanks for replying so quickly Doka! You are so right on that question. Luck, pure luck is the answer to that. Our two fires that had a few of us walking around knee deep in large Kelloggs Frosted Flakes boxes etc., stuffed animals, toys long forgotten/lost, broken furniture, newspapers, and on and on were easy fires to douse! :o

I'd bet they did not have a smoke alarm sounding off via a fresh 9V battery. Maybe the couple had 50 others that were hoarded not working too!

Unprepared For Anything

Amassing a sizable collection of smoke detectors with dead batteries is shortsighted for sure -

Adept hoarders would complement that with an assortment of inoperable fire extinguishers!!
