Oregon Budgeted Millions of Dollars to Help Poor People Buy Electric Cars.

What? Rebates ($2,500) on a Maybe $35,000(IF you can find one ,for that). Now , just how do the "poor" buy brand new cars, then actually pay in full, the balance on the car? Where do the homeless "plug in " at. This is Not a war Against the poor, this is a war Against the Oregon Tax Payer, who has to pay for this crap in the 1st place!

Oregon Budgeted Millions of Dollars to Help Poor People Buy Electric Cars. Much of the Money Has Gone Unused.

The process of releasing rebates has been significantly delayed, thanks in part to a lawsuit by AAA to block the program.

Max Toulaud drives a car for Lyft. The state of Oregon could make it an electric car—eventually.

A single father, Toulaud works two jobs to support his family in the U.S. and his parents in Ivory Coast. So when he heard about the Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program, it sounded almost too good to be true. The rebate offers Oregonians up to $2,500 for the purchase of an electric vehicle.

In 2017, the Legislature passed an 0.5 percent tax, called a "privilege tax," on new car sales as part of a huge transportation package. Some of the proceeds were supposed to subsidize the purchase of electric cars by Oregonians, with special help for low-income residents.

But under the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, the process of releasing rebates has been significantly delayed, thanks in part to a lawsuit by AAA to block the program. Some rebates are late and some are backlogged.

The rebates for low-income Oregonians? They haven't been processed at all.

Scrambled Brains

Post by Riddick » 07-15-2019 03:37 PM

Electric cars do diddly to curb carbon emissions so long as power grids are primarily fossil fuel driven - As such, rebates to stimulate sales is as much a "feel good" political move as it is nonsensical & a war against intelligence -

But hey, why should elected officials give a fig, it's not THEIR money they're throwing around!

In The Market For An Electric Car? How Stupid Are You?

There are a lot of people using the Green movement to line their own pocketbooks, either by guilting people into giving them money or forcing people to give them money through government action (see the banning of the incandescent light bulb and carbon taxes for examples of this).

Typically, things that are “green” are really dumb ideas that don't help the environment and sometimes even hurt it. In general, they are things people do to feel better about themselves or get some environmental “street cred” from hyper-elite friends and neighbors with more income than sense.

One of the dumbest Green ideas, second only perhaps to recycling plastic water bottles (why not just bring a cup or bottle and get water from a faucet!) by far is the electric car. Here are seven reasons why buying an electric car is a stupid idea, both economically and environmentally: LINK
