Very good article. It won't fly here due to regulatory issues. Once any device is brought into a medical facility there are a whole slew of rules that must be met - and documented, on a daily basis. The Lab is heavily regulated. As an example, we wanted to start a program for conducting point of service lab tests prior to giving iv contrast for CT and MRI studies as we need to review kidney function before giving contrast and if the patient hasn't had recent labs, a new test must be done. Now patients come in extra early and wait. we tried to get the program for our staff but just the required quality control tests made it undesirable.
