Our winds here in Los Angeles have been SO SEVERE the past 36 hours, the tree trimmers couldn't remove the debris from the original gale that took down a tree, four days ago. The winds have been so harsh, my new rose blooms, some only a day or two old, were blown apart. And you wouldn't believe the bark, leaves, pine needles and palm fronds scattered all all over our yard and around the front of our house.

At least it's not been any colder than 49 degrees at night, and has been in the low 60s in the daytime. But I saw photos last night that there was so much wind, snow and hail on the passes that go East and North out of the City, for a time the highways had to be shut down.

And yes, those photos from Colorado are pretty to see... I just can't fathom ever living there.

We're still getting a lot of wind, and it's supposed to continue through Sunday. It's gonna warm up considerably, but remain windy. Yuck. I'd rather just have rain. The wind is making my yard a mess. I just put mulch down on the landscaping we did in the front yard this spring, and now I have to go clean up leaves and pollen that's all over it. Oh well.

Pretty pictures, starr!

Thank you Bobbi and Joolz.

I am wondering . . . maybe we should start a "well Blow Me Down" club.
We could get jackets!:D

Seriously, I am sorry that the winds caused such a mess, for you both, and damage to your respective properties.

I'm betting you are one who takes meticulous care of your roses Bobbi, and to see them destroyed like that must have broken your heart. I hope when they re-bloom, the weather treats them kindly.

Pop Eye was one of my favorite newspaper cartoons, when I was too young to read, and Grandpa always held me on his lap and read them to me. Also, there was Snuffy Smith... LOVED those silly hillbilly comics. (And the one with Daisy May in them)

Ah yes! Al Capp's "Li'l Abner" - a true classic of the hillbilly comics genre

While Li'l Abner & friends have long been gone from the comics pages, would you believe the "Barney Google & Snuffy Smith" strip is still going strong after 93 years?

Though Snuffy didn't come along until 1934, Barney Google himself hasn't been seen but twice in the strip since 1996, having long left his center stage spot to "the laziest man in Hootin Holler"

Remember when Snuffy's wife used to snack him when he came home loaded? Husband abuse was popular, then... especially when they came home drunk from moonshine!
