HONOLULU -- Firefighters continue to battle a brush fire near the Pohakuloa Training Area on the Big Island.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources took this video on Sunday of the fire burning near Saddle Road that showed what looked like a tornado made out of fire. The twisters pulls flames high into the air.

The blaze has burned about 1,400 acres so far. Firefighters have the brush fire about 60 percent contained, DLNR officials said.

Saddle Road remains open with detours, while Mauna Kea State Recreation Area remains closed.

Wow! That's amazing! The first thing I thought of while watching that was... Pele... the Hawaiian goddess of fire... this is her home, after all, and for good reason. ;) Anyhow... just spectacular! Thanks for posting this.
