FYI, there is a band of storms that stretch from central Texas to Chicago, moving east tonight. Central lower Illinois has several warnings posted now. The dynamics of this storm is that it's being fed by cool Canadian air from the north, and warm moist air from the south (Gulf), and it's causing some instability and in some cases rotation. We've had three funnels in Ohio since dinnertime (3 hours ago).
NAM data shows a pretty severe amount of upper rotation over southeast Michigan, moving into Detroit by 10, and then building a bit over Lake Erie and Ontario. It appears it may trek through New York, but could be pushed more northerly.
Severe weather is also coming into Pittsburgh where it will go east to Washington DC.
Pirates north of Fresno CA, your impact with this will be a draw of moist air from the Pacific, which could translate into torrential rainfall in the upper foothills.
And north into Pocatello ID and eastward, there has been signatures on radar of very fast moving t-storms with rotation, which could become very nasty when it starts to hit the mountain range.
Be safe, Pirates. Be sure you have your weather radio handy.

Looks like this morning there are big storms rolling across the U.P. of Michigan towards Toronto and Montreal by this evening.
