We had a 4.5 on Sat not too far from where I am. I was at the beach with the doggie and noticed that he was acting strangely. When we arrived at the park (forest) next to the beach, he wouldn't get out of the car to go for his sniffy adventure, which he lives for. When he and I were walking around the park, he was slow and pensive and stuck right by my side. He usually can't wait to get out of the car and always runs off looking for things of interest to him. I was a bit nervous about his behavior because I thought he had sniffed out a bear or cougar in the area, so we cut our visit short. Everywhere here is wilderness with few people around outside of the townsite.

After we got home I saw that the quake had happened while he and I were walking around out there. I didn't feel the quake but I bet he did. And I think he knew it was coming.

Yes' I believe they feel the waves before the ground shakes, Raggedyann.

I was awakened by my dog at 6am, as she was running in circles a minute before a huge quake hit in the L.A area, way back in the 70's.

They are amazing creatures! Another thing I noticed was the birds were all squawking more than normal too. The ravens, crows and eagles were kicking up a real fuss. As it is spring, I thought maybe they were just celebrating all the new food sources.

After living in the boonies for 35 yrs., I am way more afraid of earthquakes than I am of bears and cougars. Respect! I get out of their way quickly and hope like hell they didn't see me as I'm running like hell for the car. :D

:D :D :D

I no longer have the hearing and sight abilities I had when I was younger and tromping around the bushes, so I no longer take chances. And I can't run fast anymore either.

You have the constant worry about earthquakes where you are too. We are both situated off major fault lines.

Earthquake Rattles Ontario, Quebec

An earthquake and quick aftershock struck central Canada Friday, rattling residents and buildings in Ontario and Quebec and reports of tremors as far away as Ohio.

Earthquakes Canada says at 9:43 a.m. EST it registered a 5.2-magnitude temblor with an epicentre located about 17 kilometres northeast of Shawville, Que., about an hour's drive outside Ottawa.

Less than 10 minutes later, a 4.2-magnitude aftershock was also recorded near the town of Braeside, Ont. The two towns are located about 33 kilometres away from each other across the Ottawa River.

There have been no reports of damage so far, said Taimi Mulder, a seismologist at the Geological Survey of Canada.

Yes, of course he would have been closer to the action. I hope we hear from him.

There was a guy on C2C talking about quakes (as well as tornado activity). He was saying the quakes are in a response to several factors? Solar flares - the lower internal center of the earth and magnetic situation.

A strong earthquake was recorded at 9:18 p.m. PDT on Sunday night in the Pacific Ocean near northern California, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The 6.9-magnitude temblor hit about 50 miles west of Eureka, Calif., at a depth of 4.3 miles.

There were no early signs of a tsunami.

USGS seismologist Susan Hoover told The Associated Press that more than 300 people reported feeling the quake on their website.

About 2 hours ago I was on the BC Emergency site checking out the suggested list of supplies for an emergency survival kit. I have some stuff but I know I need a few more things. Coincidence? I sure hope so.

One down by Mexico as well. According to a caller to C2CAM, also in Richmond VA, but I think that fellow was smoking crack and just wanted to get on the show.

voguy -- more quakes - quick and easy checks off Drudge - go down right side to look at quake sheet.

As for the Richmond, VA - don't know if it was a quake, but besides that guy who called on C2C, a FB person from near the Richmond, VA area also said there was something - but wasn't sure if it was a quake or not. All that was stated, something woke up the family, and had talked to others since. Some did, some didn't - so who knows??

I assume you mean http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/ ?

My impression of the guy in Richmond was he was looking for attention. I would have thought that more than just he would call, given the area, as well as the coverage of the show. WRVA had nothing on it, and the Times-Dispatch only reports:
Big quake strikes off N. Calif., no tsunami threat
Monday, March 10, 2014 5:04 AM
A powerful magnitude-6.9 earthquake struck late Sunday off the coast of Northern California, but there were no immediate reports of injury or damage and no danger of a tsunami, officials said.
I would expect the hometown media to have something on it.
