Talk about weird weather. ! We where blessed(?) With a wind storm yesterday , with 65 mph gusts, it was a show, just watching people trying to get to their cars. Driving them must have been a nightmare.

I can safely say the weather predictions have NOT been right for a couple months. Every week-end snow is predicted, then the temp goes to 55° and more wind. So snow predicted again, but it is to be 45° today and........wind.

Note: We do need snow here desperately, as we depend on full reservoirs and rivers for are water and power. It is not looking good to keep us going in the Summer.

And of course hi-winds don't do the Wind Turbines much good, they are usually shut down, as the can turn themselves into a giant fireball or get knocked over.

So hows your weather?

Well, after being hyped to the moon by the media? I can't say if we even got a full 4 inches of snow out of this weekend's forecast Friday evening to Sunday morning "storm" - That's like 3-something less than what we got on Halloween (an unseasonably hefty 7 inch snowfall the weathermen DIDN'T see coming).

They'd also said with the storm we could see wind gusts up to 35-40 mph. We didn't. But then, they only said "COULD," not "WOULD" so it's not like we can say the weathermen were wrong.

Of course, just 'cause weather can be unpredictable, in no way should anyone ever dare to even suggest that the same applies to climate - In that regard we ALL CAN better believe if we don't go carbon neutral yesterday for sure the world is going to end in (insert whatever number of years here)

Incredable, Riddick!

Here is the weather here:

Today
Isolated showers after 10am. Snow level 1700 feet rising to 2400 feet. Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. West wind 16 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%..

About 2 weeks a go we had a "Century Flood". It snowed very hard for about 2 days, then melted very fast out of the mountains wiped out about 150 famlies on an usually safe flood plain, a tragedy and big mess. It even closed our freeway I-84 for a couple days. One life lost.

The wind seems to never stop!

We had 70MPH gusts here Sunday, have been experiencing lots of Freeway Closing winds lately.

Humidity 56%
Wind Speed ENE 9 MPH
Barometer 30.43 in (1030.48 mb)
Dewpoint 30°F (-1°C)
Visibility 10.00 mi
Wind Chill 40°F (4°C)
Last update 25 Feb 06:50 PM PST

I have never seen the Barometer so high. My body is in agony. And we had at least 10 to 15 Chem-Trailers in the sky all day doing the "Xs". Makes one wonder?

But It's A Dry Heat

The National Weather Service recorded the hottest temperature in Death Valley since 1913, when the mercury hit 130°F (54.4C) on Sunday. The temperature has yet to be verified by experts. As you can see, the National Park Service visitor's center at Furnace Creek registered even warmer, although that thermometer is not "official." If it were, they would fix the glitch in that bottom LED.
  • The current world record for the hottest temperature recorded on Earth was 134°F and was set by Death Valley back on July 10, 1913. A scorching 131°F was also observed in Kebili, Tunisia, on July 7, 1931. Because some meteorologists believe these two readings may not have been totally accurate, it’s possible the 129°F observed in Death Valley in 2013 and the 129°F recorded in both Kuwait in 2016 and Pakistan in 2017 could be the current highest temperatures. If so, and if the latest temperature can be verified, that would make it the new record holder by one degree.
It stands to reason that today's thermometers would be more accurate than those of the past, but how they will ever figure out whether those readings of decades ago were warmer or cooler is anyone's guess. The upshot is that you should not go into Death Valley in the summer without plenty of water.

Where ever you are, HAS to be better than here in Eastern Oregon . We are at 466 on the Hazzard scale, below 100 would be good breathable air. Would you believe the number is down from 488! Smoke is sifting in from every nook and cranny, amazing! I have a nice air cleaner, I'm, sitting on(well, very close to) and a Himalayan salt lamp, that works surprisingly well. Air conditioner in the hall ways, just suck the smoke in from the outside. So the hallways are like a bad, creepy, movie. Outside it is difficult to see across the street. The little town is very quiet and ghostly. If we are lucky it may clear out sometime Monday.

I am greatful, that we have not been set on fire , yet, to go with the smoke. :|

Here in SE WI wev'e had overcast skies & intermittent rain more or less all week with highs in the 50s & 60s. The"air quality index" is a 'good' 39

Kind cool for this early in September but it's way better than choking and/or burning.

1° here in SE WI with white stuff tapering off, mebbe 2 in. but only adding to the 10 year snow cover high. -14° low expected tomorrow night.

Winter in Wisconsin, you betcha! Still waiting for that warming to end all warming.
