Alerts for: Metro Montréal - Laval

3:37 PM EST Tuesday 01 March 2016
Blizzard warning in effect for:
  • Châteauguay - La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil - Varennes area
  • Montréal Island area

Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and visibility frequently near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring.

An intense low pressure system developing over the Central United States will reach Southern Quebec tonight and continue toward the Gaspé Peninsula. It will leave significant snowfall amounts over these regions. Strong to high winds northeasterlies combined with cold temperatures and a quick snowfall will cause blizzard conditions tonight for Southern Quebec and Thursday for the Lower Saint-Lawrence.

There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Blizzard warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 4 hours.
