AND only a true genius could put on an act like that.

I guess that way, he's kinda like how Jim Varney was. I mean, no one could possibly be as dumb as Ernest P. Worrell - and as annoyingly without wits as George may seem at times? Hey, that's just part of the show.

Having us convinced he's something he's not, that takes talent... Not only that, fooling the audience as he has for more than a decade now, it's a sign of true BRILLIANCE! That's what it is! Sheer unadulterated brilliance.

('Course, I could be fooling MYSELF about that last part, knowhutImean? :D ;))

Very interesting as he met with Shirley also.

Some have said Mike Siegel was the first George Noory... but, is that a fair judgment? His tenure was pretty short, and there's hardly any material available from that time anymore, though I HAVE managed to come by a couple interviews from January 2001 (shortly before Art returned to the helm) - give a listen & see if you think Mike and George are two of a kind:

1-23-01 The Olmecs with Col. Gordon Cooper & Zecharia Sitchin
1-26-01 Aliens with Retired Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Robert O. Dean

Keeping your hands off the interviews, eh turtle...?

How about if I gave you a ten-foot pole, would you touch 'em then?

I take it Mike wasn't 'zactly your cup of C2C tea.

I imagine the fact that so very very little of Siegel's material has been preserved is a fair indicator of how little he's thought of by the show's fan base.

Now, that said, it's just my opinion... but, after listening to Siegel again after all these years, it's not so easy for me to outright dismiss his work - Would the show still be on had he continued as host? Hard to say.

Granted, he's no Art Bell. But then, neither is Noory... in that way, they are two of a kind. By comparison though, only ONE of the two has made a CAREER out of not being Art -

Mike was only at it less than ten months, but ten years is a long LONG time NOT being many folks' cup of late-night talk tea.

IMHO, so much as there's only one Art Bell? There's only one George Noory.

I don't know if anyone else heard George last nights 10th anniversary show?
But for me, I almost became physically ill. It was a whole show of" Nooryisms", he was so condescending at some points I couldn't believe what I heard. He got enough "smoke" blown up his behind that he should self launch. And he agreed with all of them that he is the "greatest".

I take it he didn't mention how they've lost some of their major metropolitian affiliates, and IF they've remained in those markets, the show's only carried on some low-power podunk station?
