Words of the day or scattered thoughts

Religions;
Christian, Budism, Islamic, Touism, Wiccan, Universalism,Druidic,
Celtic gods, Egyptian gods, Norse gods, Greek gods, ect.
Why is it that most people miss the simple fact that all these
religions, diverse as they are, are right? They are no more, or less,
than diffrent paths to the same goal. Oneness with THE ONE ABOVE ALL.
And yet, throughout history, Religion has been the root
cause of countless human deaths.

Hell;
A realm of fire where a soul is tortured for all eternity.
The very concept offends me.
I am a father. At times, my kids have done things that I did not
aprove of. But I could NEVER turn my back on my children no matter
what.
Ask yourself this; "could I condem my child to eternal torture? "
No doubt you will answer with "NO".
Nor do I believe that GOD would condem His children.
On the other hand, I could believe in Purgatory. There at least
"punishment" is only temporary (relitivly speaking).

War;
An ugly word. Perhaps the ugliest.
War has been with us for almost as long as we have existed.
It has many forms, but it all comes down to one thing;
"Those guys over there have something we don't have, so
we'll take it from them. And if they don't like it, we'll kill'em
and take what we want anyway."
Do we never learn? Traiding for what we need would be far better and
benificial to both sides. Everyone wins and no one has to
die before their natural time.

when I started this thread .
Nothing I write here is intended as an attack on the Forum
or any person on the Forum or anyone anywhere.
It is no more than the title indicates.

So, come have a look at reality, as seen through the eyes of
a slightly deranged psudo-samurai yankee cajun.


Peace;

Technicaly, the oposite of war. There have been many periods of
peace throughout human history, but nowhere near enough.
We want it. We dream of it. Wish for it. Now and then we achieve it. But we always loose it. Every time.
The reason why is something we do not like to accept.
When we have peace we become complacent and we forget how we obtained that peace; Hardship and strife, if not war (there it is again).
It seems to me that mankind, as a whole, cannot abide peace
for very long. We are, and always have been, an agressive
species. Peace seems to have been left out of our genetic makeup.


Races;

This one bugs the hell out of me.
Black. White. Red. Yellow. ( and variations thereof)
Why, oh, why do we keep doing this?
There is only one race; The HUMAN race. Color is only skin deep.
Inside we're all exactly alike ( aside from male/female differences).
It's our social environment and our upbringing and that make us
ailen to one another. It should NOT have to be that way, but it is.

Whoever came up with this should have been flogged
( and might have been, who knows.)
Can you imagine what an imagrant must go trough trying to
learn English?
Concider; Knife. It's pronounced " Nife". By the spelling
it should be pronounced as " Ka-nif".
We have Two,to,and too. dif spelling,dif meaning, but pronounced
the same.
Same thing with "bye" and "buy".
Examples could go on and on, but I think you get it.
Some people call english " the language of diplomacy".
Sure. Ya need diplomacy to use it, sometimes.

The medical profession;
The problem with this today, as I see it, is that it's more concerned with the almighty dollar than with healing the sick or injured. Hospitals (most of them) are run like corporations.
Speaking of which ...

Corporations (as in mega-corps.);
Profit comes first. No corporation owes you or I anything. A Corporation's primary responcibility is to it's share-holders. It MUST make a profit, the bigger the better, solely for the benifit of those share-holders. We, as consumers, are only the sourse of that profit. As employees, we are part of the overhead.
An unfortunate, but nessisary evil .. in their eyes.

And now, I'm going to annoy the hell out of
some of you. Others will nod their heads in
agreement. A few may not even care.


Freedom:

I'm not going to define this word. It means too
many things to diferent people.
A former slave knows what it is because it's something
he/she once didn't have, and now cherishes.
Or someone who has lived under the grinding heel
of a real dictatorship and has escaped.
Most imagrants who come to the states do so because
they seek a better life than they had. Odd is it not, how
those imagrants come to love freedom more than most
people born here in the states? Perhaps because
they understand what freedom is.

Freedom always had a price. Most often it's paid for
in blood. Time and again, American soldiers have paid
that price so that we could keep our freedom.
Every veteran of WWII knows this first hand. So do
the VietNam vets.
They also know that we've lost something fundamental.

We, as a people, Have forgotten what freedom
is and what it costs, and so, we are losing it.
Little by little, day by day.
No longer is this the same country they fought for.
Families are almost a thing of the past. Kids are
killing kids in the shools. Niegbors don't know, or
care, who their niegbors are anymore. Morality
died and too few of us even noticed. We've become,
more and more, numb to the atrocities that are
commited on a daily basis, and served up to us on
the nightly newscasts. Well, those that make it to
the news.
I'm not much of a psycic, but the future I see is
dark, ugly, has no freedom, and terrifies me.
Because we forgot what freedom is, it will have to
be earned again. Most likely, it will be our
children and grandchildren who will have to pay
that price.
And the price, as usual, will be in blood and lives.
My son is 24 years old. I fear for him.
God help us... and them.

Jon Marcus, my husband reminds me daily of his life in Cuba, when I get off on my rants about the US. We do forget even with all of its flaws, this is the best Country in the World.
