Burning Bridges
Mike Curb Congregation

Friends all tried to warn me
But I held my head up high
All the time they warned me
But I only passed them by...
They all tried to tell me
But I guess I didn't care.
I turned my back and
Left them standing there

All the burning bridges that have fallen after me
All the lonely feelings and the burning memories
Everyone I left behind each time I closed the door
Burning bridges lost forevermore

Joey tried to help me find a job a while ago
When I finally got it I didn't want to go...
The party Mary gave for me when I just walked away.
Now there's nothing left for me to say

All the burning bridges that have fallen after me
All the lonely feelings and the burning memories
Everyone I left behind each time I closed the door
Burning bridges lost forevermore

Years have passed and I keep thinking
What a fool I've been...
I look back into the past and think of way back then
I know that I lost everything I thought I that could win.
I guess I should have listened to my friends

All the burning bridges that have fallen after me
All the lonely feelings and the burning memories
Everyone I left behind each time I closed the door
Burning bridges lost forevermore

Burning bridges lost forevermore...

Don't Look Back
Boston

Don't look back
A new day is breakin'
It's been too long since I felt this way
I don't mind where I get taken
The road is callin'
Today is the day

I can see
It took so long just to realize
I'm much too strong
Not to comprimise
Now I see what I am is holding me down
I'll turn it around, oh yes I will

I finally see the dawn arrivin'
I see beyond the road I'm drivin'

It's a bright horizon and I'm awakin' now
Oh I see myself in a brand new way
The sun is shinin'
the clouds are breakin'
'Cause I can't lose now, there's no game to play

I can tell
There's no more time left to criticize
I've seen what I could not recognize
Everthing in my life was leading me on
but I can be strong, oh yes I can

I finally see the dawn arrivin'
I see beyond the road I'm drivin'
Far away and left behind, left behind

Oh the sun is shinin

Don't look back
A new day is breakin'
It's been too long since I felt this way
I don't mind where I get taken
The road is callin'
Today is the day

I can see
It took so long just to realize
I'm much too strong
Not to comprimise
Now I see what I am is holding me down
I'll turn it around, oh yes I will

I finally see the dawn arriving
I see beyond the road I'm driving
Far away and left behind

Don't look back
Don't look back
Don't look back
Don't look back...

Peace of Mind
Boston

Now if you're feelin' kinda low 'bout the dues you've been paying
Future's coming much too slow
And you wanna run but somehow you just keep on stayin'
Can't decide on which way to go
Yeah, yeah, yeah

I understand about indecision
But I don't care if I get behind
People livin' in competition
All I want is to have my peace of mind.

Now you're climbin' to the top of the company ladder
Hope it doesn't take too long
Can'tcha you see there'll come a day when it won't matter
Come a day when you'll be gone

I understand about indecision
But I don't care if I get behind
People livin' in competition
All I want is to have my peace of mind.

Take a look ahead, take a look ahead, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...

Now everybody's got advice they just keep on givin'
Doesn't mean too much to me
Lot's of people out to make-believe they're livin'
Can't decide who they should be.

I understand about indecision
But I don't care if I get behind
People livin' in competition
All I want is to have my peace of mind.

Take a look ahead, take a look ahead. Look ahead.

ARTIST: Billy Thorpe
TITLE: Children of the Sun

People of the earth can you hear me
Came a voice from the sky that magical night
And in the colors of a thousand sunsets
They traveled to the world on a silvery light

The people of the earth stood waiting
Watching as the ships came one by one
Setting fire to the sky as they landed
Carrying to the world children of the sun, children of the sun

All at once came a sound from the inside
Then a beam made of light hit the ground
Everyone felt the sound of their heartbeat
Every man, every woman, every child

They passed the limits of imagination
Through the door to the world of another time
And on the journey of a thousand lifetimes
With the children of the sun, they started their climb

Children of the sun, children of the sun

No more gravity, nothing holding them down
Floating endlessly, as their ship leaves the ground
Through the walls of time, at the speed of light
Fly the crystal ships on their celestial flight, on their celestial flight

Children of the sun, children of the sun...

Summer and the band Boston go hand in hand like children playin in the river.

I saw them play in Wichita this summer and the nostalgia and warmth that I took away from it will last me through the winter definitely. When Tom Scholtz played the Star Spangled Banner even Jimi Hendrix wept like a baby. My heart rises like a morning dove just thinkin about it.

I really used to like Boston, but then the DJ's started playing their songs, such as "Don't Look Back" and "More Than A Feeling" every 10 minutes and I burned out on them in a major way.
One of the most over-rated bands ever.

The Coming Dawn
by Kerry Livgren(Kansas)

As the dew turns to frost
I am fearing that there's something that is lost
The leaves will change, and start to fall
I'm still wondering if it matters much at all

When my world starts to fade
I can only hope that every choice I made
Will endure and carry on
Into the coming dawn

The breezes blow
Dark clouds pass by
Like some artist's canvas captured in my eye
I am sure,I'm holding fast
I am dying for a lifetime that will last

So when my world starts to fade
I'm still hoping that the choices that I've made
Will endure,and carry on
Into the coming dawn

Anyway by Steve Perry:

Still I remember
I'd like to say I'm sorry
I'd like to make amends
I'd close my eyes and tell the truth
But where would I begin
My story's far from simple
I'm so afraid to show
I never want to run again
I wanna let you know

Anyway, what was I saying
Anyway, I seem to have lost my place again
Anyway, somehow I need just to forget
But I can't do it, oh I try, anyway

We believed in music
Brothers to the end
Nothing stood between us
A fire burned within
Oh how I remember
Wounded, but alive
Lost in my insanity
Escaping to survive

Anyway, what was I saying
Anyway, I seem to have lost my place again
Anyway, oh how I need just to forget
But can't do it...oh I try..still I can't do it
Oh I try, oh I try, anyway
Still I remember
Still I remember
Haunting me, calling me, still I remember
No, no, no, no

Song By: Ozzy Osbourne
Song Title: Dreamer

Gazing through the window at the world outside
Wondering will mother earth survive
Hoping that mankind will stop abusing her sometime

After all there's only just the two of us
And here we are still fighting for our lives
Watching all of history repeat itself
Time after time

I'm just a dreamer
I dream my life away
I'm just a dreamer
Who dreams of better days

I watch the sun go down like everyone of us
I'm hoping that the dawn will bring a sign
A better place for those Who will come after us ...
This time

I'm just a dreamer
I dream my life away oh yeah
I'm just a dreamer
Who dreams of better days

Your higher power may be God or Jesus Christ
It doesn't really matter much to me
Without each others help there ain't no hope for us
I'm living in a dream of fantasy
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah

If only we could all just find serenity
It would be nice if we could live as one
When will all this anger, hate and bigotry ...
Be gone?

I'm just a dreamer
I dream my life away
Today
I'm just a dreamer
Who dreams of better days
Okay
I'm just a dreamer
Who's searching for the way
Today
I'm just a dreamer
Dreaming my life away
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah

Six Underground

~take me down
6 underground
the ground beneath your feet
laid out low
nothing to go
nowhere a way to meet.
i've got a head full of drought
down here, so far off
losing out, round here

Overground, watch this space..I'm open to falling from grace.

calm me down
bring it round
too way high off your street
i can see like nothing else
in me you're better than I wanna be.
don't think 'cos i understand i care
don't think 'cos i'm talking we're friends

talk me down, safe and sound, too
strung up to sleep
wear me out
scream and shout
swear my time's never cheap
i fake my life like i've lived;
too much
i take whatever you're given;
not enough

Soldiers by the BEE GEES

Post by pyrite » 08-31-2004 04:45 AM

Soldiers :by
The Bee Gees

I memorize, I walk in line
carry my sacrifice for the sake of the millions
All night you be the light on the water
You be the pride and the sorrow
Shower your love to me there

Summer died before the rain
Unify every soul together be lonely
Ride on follow me to the sunrise
Save me the world that is broken
Nothing but love to be there

Soldiers, father and son
We're soldiers, nowhere to run
We fight or we die
For what are we livin' for?
Boys never cry
Soldiers, mother and child
We're soldiers ,the meek and the mild
We stand or we fall

Never mind,dry your eyes
You'll never be far away
Forever beside me
Hold out, I will be your tomorrow
I will walk through the fire
Nothing but love to be there

Soldiers, father and son
We're soldiers,nowhere to run
We fight or we die
For what are we living' for
Boys never cry
Soldiers, mother and child
We're soldiers, the meek and the mild
We stand or we fall

I'm a little misunderstood
living all the daydreams and nightmares
don't do me no good
I'm a little bit on the moon
But when the word is - you love me
No moment is too soon

All night give me the light on the water
Give me the pride and the sorrow
Showing your love to me there

Soldiers, father and son
We're soldiers,nowhere to run
We fight or we die
For what are we livin'for?
Boys never cry
Soldiers, mother and child
We're soldiers, the meek and the mild
We stand or we fall

*Soldiers, father and son
We're soldiers, nowhere to run
We fight or we die
For what are we livin' for?
Boys never cry

The Only Love I Had by Venice

Post by Liz » 08-31-2004 07:10 AM

Once upon a time
A long time ago
I thought that I should leave you
I thought that you should go
I never really said goodbye
I never even heard you cry
And after all this time, it's hard to say
The only love I had, I sent away

Ah, but you were young
Younger than I knew
I hope you can forgive me
I was younger too
I really thought that I could see
What was best for you and me
Though after all this time, it's hard to say
'Cause the only love I had, I sent away

Sometimes as I lay here in the dark
I wonder where you're sleeping
If you think of me at all
Are you warm?
Are you happy where you are?
Do you sometimes feel like weeping
When the summers turn to fall?
Do you think of me at all?

And so I send this out
Wherever you may be
To tell you I still love you
You're still a part of me
And if you could ever find a way
I'll be hoping for the day
When you can smile at me and tell me it's OK
That the only love I had, I sent away

I don't know if anyone wouldn't be in a better mood after this song!!!

I was tired of my lady, we'd been together too long.
Like a worn-out recording, of a favorite song.
So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed.
And in the personals column, there was this letter I read:

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
I'm the lady you've looked for, write to me, and escape."

I didn't think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean.
But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine.
So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad.
And though I'm nobody's poet, I thought it wasn't half-bad.

"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne.
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape.
At a bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape."

So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it's you."
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew"..

"That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."

:D

Songs that have meaning . . .

Post by cherry » 09-01-2004 09:10 AM

If you could read my mind love
What a tale my thoughts could tell
Just like an old time movie
About a ghost from a wishing well
In a castle dark or a fortress strong
With chains upon my feet
You know that ghost is me
And I will never be set free
As long as I’m a ghost that you can’t see

From Mary Poppins Soundtrack

Sung By "Mrs. Banks"

We're clearly soldiers in petticoats
And dauntless crusaders for woman's votes
Though we adore men individually
We agree that as a group they're rather stupid!

Cast off the shackles of yesterday!
Shoulder to shoulder into the fray!
Our daughters' daughters will adore us
And they'll sign in grateful chorus
"Well done, Sister Suffragette!"

From Kensington to Billingsgate
One hears the restless cries!
From ev'ry corner of the land:
"Womankind, arise!"
Political equality and equal rights with men!
Take heart! For Missus Pankhurst has been clapped in irons again!

No more the meek and mild subservients we!
We're fighting for our rights, militantly!
Never you fear!

So, cast off the shackles of yesterday!
Shoulder to shoulder into the fray!
Our daughters' daughters will adore us
And they'll sign in grateful chorus
"Well done! Well done!
Well done Sister Suffragette!"

Big chain around my neck ...

Post by cherry » 09-01-2004 02:38 PM

I got a big chain around my neck,
And I'm broken down like a train wreck.
Well it's over, I know it, but I can't let go.
