Goodbye Judy (mom)

This song has always reminded me of you !

"Lightning Crashes" ~ Live

lightning crashes, a new mother cries
her placenta falls to the floor
the angel opens her eyes
the confusion sets in
before the doctor can even close the door

lightning crashes, an old mother dies
her intentions fall to the floor
the angel closes her eyes
the confusion that was hers
belongs now, to the baby down the hall

oh now feel it comin' back again
like a rollin' thunder chasing the wind
forces pullin' from the center of the earth again
I can feel it.

lightning crashes, a new mother cries
this moment she's been waiting for
the angel opens her eyes
pale blue colored iris,
presents the circle
and puts the glory out to hide, hide

El Condor Pasa

Post by SETIsLady » 05-18-2010 08:58 PM

Simon and Garfunkel did not write this song, they just put lyrics to it.

I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

I'd rather be a hammer than a nail.
Yes I would.
If I only could,
I surely would.

CHORUS

Away, I'd rather sail away
Like a swan that's here and gone
A man gets tied up to the ground
He gives the world
Its saddest sound,
Its saddest sound.

I'd rather be a forest than a street.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet,
Yes I would.
If I only could,
I surely would.

Sharon and the Dap Kings are one of my favorite Austin groups. I love her "100 days" song! Good choice Kaz.

First time I heard their new album my ears perked right up, "What's this?!?!" I ran around asking. :)

Absolutely wonderful sound, fresh and yet very old-school.

Sharon Jones sounds wonderful, very vibrant - and that band is tight! It's an album worthy of some of the best Philadelphia International Gamble & Huff produced stuff.

You might catch her on ACL some time. She's the one spinning, gyrating, bouncing with no shoes on. A very talented lady.

Here is another Austin lady that I just love..Carolyn Wonderland.

Wow! She is terrific! I just watched about four of her videos. She reminds me a little of Janis Joplin, and a little of Sue Foley--with the red hair and the Telecaster.

I'm going to have to do further research on this lady.:D

Everytime I see the news, and what is going on here in Florida to save everything from death, I think of this song.

Midnight Oil - Beds Are Burning

Out where the river broke
The blood wood and the desert oak
Holden wrecks and boiling diesels
Steam in forty five degrees

The time has come
To say fair's fair
To pay the rent
To pay our share

The time has come
A fact's a fact
It belongs to them
Let's give it back

How can we dance when our earth is turning
How do we sleep while our beds are burning
How can we dance when our earth is turning
How do we sleep while our beds are burning

The time has come
To say fair's fair
To pay the rent, now
To pay our share

Four wheels scare the cockatoos
From Kintore East to Yuendemu
The western desert lives and breathes
In forty five degrees

The time has come
To say fair's fair
To pay the rent
To pay our share
The time has come
A fact's a fact
It belongs to them
Let's give it back

How can we dance when our earth is turning
How do we sleep while our beds are burning
How can we dance when our earth is turning
How do we sleep while our beds are burning

The time has come
To say fair's fair
To pay the rent, now
To pay our share
The time has come
A fact's a fact
It belongs to them
We're gonna give it back

How can we dance when our earth is turning
How do we sleep while our beds are burning

I will give everyone the English lyrics, because they are truly words to live by !

What's good today:
May not be good tomorrow
That's the value of the moment
That's the perfect present

Lady Luck will show up
You'll see if you can ride her
Hold on tight
And don't let go.

Laugh, cry
Everyone has to die
Laugh, cry
Live your life, enjoy it all.

Everything is so relative
It's not that I remember, but that I don't forget
That's what grace is, remembering without regret
Hold on tight, and don't let go.

Laugh, cry
Everyone has to die
Laugh, cry
Live your life, enjoy it all.

Laugh, cry
Live your life, enjoy it all
Laugh, cry
This black girl is still in style

This black girl is still in style
And with my rhythm, my rhythm, enjoy it now.

Ay it's so delicious
Ay so delicious
It's so very tasty
This rhythm of right now

This black girl will never go out of style!

Barry White ~ You Are The First, My Last, My Everything

Post by SETIsLady » 06-25-2010 12:29 AM

The first, the last, my everything
And the answer to all my dreams
You're my sun, my moon, my guiding star
My kind of wonderful, that's what you are

I know there's only, only one like you
There's no way they could have made two
You're all I'm living for
Your love I'll keep for evermore
You're the first, your the last, my everything

And with you I've found so many things
A love so new only you could bring
Can't you see it's you
You make me feel this way
You're like a fresh morning dew on a brand new day
I see so many ways that I
Can love you till the day I die
You're my reality, yet I'm lost in a-a-a a dream
You're the first, the last, my everything

I know there's only, only one like you
There's no way they could have made two
Girl you're my reality
But I'm lost in a-a-a a dream
You're the first, you're the last, my everything

Smash Mouth - Walkin' On The Sun

Post by SETIsLady » 06-26-2010 09:53 PM

It ain't no joke I'd like to buy the world a toke
And teach the world to sing in perfect harmony
And teach the world to snuff the fires and the liars
Hey I know it's just a song but it's spice for the recipe
This is a love attack I know it went out but it's back.
It's just like any fad it retracts before impact
And just like fashion it's a passion for the with it and hip
If you got the goods they'll come and buy it just to stay in the clique

[Chorus:]
So don't delay act now supplies are running out
Allow if you're still alive six to eight years to arrive
And if you follow there may be a tomorrow
But if the offer is shun you might as well be walkin' on the sun

Twenty-five years ago they spoke out and they broke out
Of recession and oppression and together they toked
And they folked out with guitars around a bonfire
Just singin' and clappin' man what the hell happened
Then some were spellbound some were hellbound
Some they fell down and some got back up and
Fought back 'gainst the melt down
And their kids were hippie chicks all hypocrites
Because fashion is smashin' the true meaning of it

[Repeat Chorus]

It ain't no joke when a mama's handkerchief is soaked
With her tears because her baby's life has been revoked
The bond is broke up so choke up and focus on the close up
Mr. Wizard can't perform no godlike hocus-pocus
So don't sit back kick back and watch the world get bushwhacked
News at 10:00 your neighborhood is under attack
Put away the crack before the crack puts you away
You need to be there when your baby's old enough to relate

Have You Ever Seen The Rain? ~ Creedence Clearwater Revival

Post by SETIsLady » 07-01-2010 08:21 PM

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know it's been coming for some time

When it's over so they say
It'll rain on a sunny day
I know shinning down like water

I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
Coming down on a sunny day

Yesterday and days before
Sun is cold and rain is hard
I know, been that way for all my time

'Til forever, on it goes
Through the circle of fast and slow
I know it can't stop, I wonder

I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
Coming down on a sunny day

I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
Coming down on a sunny day
