I am watching The U.S. vs. John Lennon on BBC which inspires me to post this.
Imagine
Imagine
by John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Well I stand up next to a mountain
I chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well I stand next to a mountain
I chop it down with the edge of my hand
I pick up all the tiny pieces and make an island
might even raise just a little sand., yeah

'Cos I'm a Voodoo Child
God knows I'm a Voodoo Child

I didn't mean to take up all your sweet time,
I'll give it back one of these days
I said I hate to take up all your sweet time
I'll give it back one of these days
And if I don't see you no more in this world
I'll meet you on the next one
But don't be late,
Don't be late

'Cos I'm a Voodoo Child
God knows I'm a Voodoo Child

Floridays ~ Jimmy Buffett

Post by SETIsLady » 10-01-2007 12:47 PM

I come from where the rivers meet the sea
That's part of why I'm so wild and fancy free
I was early into crazy ways
My folks said, "It's just a phase"
They were hoping for better days

Now in my line of work I seem to see a lot more than most
Write 'em down, pas 'em around
It's the gospel from the coast
Reflections, not just replays
Takin' time to escape the maze
Lookin' for better days

I spent a year of my life one night
On the beaches in old Beirut
Seems that all they're aimin' for there
Is to hang around and shoot
Each others' lives away
Bloody winds on a distant bay
They're lookin' for better days

Looking to the left, looking to the right
Looking to the stars to shed some light
Hoping for a breath, hoping for break
Hopin' for the give without the take

The dreamers line the state road
Just to watch the runway show
Slouched behind their steering wheels
They just watch the big jets go
Streakin' through the morning haze
Focal point of a distant gaze
Lookin' for better days

Pale invaders and tanned crusaders
Are worshipping the sun
On the corner of "walk" and "don't walk"
Somewhere on US 1
I'm back to livin' Floridays
Blue skies and ultra-violet rays
Lookin' for better days

I'm back to livin' Floridays
Blue skies and ultra-violet rays
Lookin' for better days, lookin' for better days
Lookin' for Floridays

Better days, better days
Everybody's lookin' for better days
Somewhere beneath the shining star
Better days, mon't you take me to better days
Better days, I sure could use a few better days

BOWL OF SOUP: "High School Never Ends"

Post by joequinn » 10-01-2007 11:11 PM

Four years you think for sure
That's all you've got to endure
All the total dicks
All the stuck up chicks
So superficial, so immature
Then when you graduate
You take a look around and you say HEY WAIT
This is the same as where I just came from
I thought it was over
Aw that's just great

The whole damn world is just as obsessed
With who's the best dressed and who's having sex,
Who's got the money, who gets the honeys,
Who's kinda cute and who's just a mess
And you still don't have the right look
And you don't have the right friends
Nothing changes but the faces, the names, and the trends
High school never ends

Check out the popular kids
You'll never guess what Jessica did
How did Mary Kate lose all that weight
And Katie had a baby so I guess Tom's straight
And the only thing that matters
Is climbing up that social ladder
Still care about your hair and the car you drive
Doesn't matter if you're sixteen or thirty-five

Reese Witherspoon,
She's the prom queen
Bill Gates,
Captain of the chess team
Jack Black, the clown
Brad Pitt, the quarterback
I've seen it all before
I want my money back

The whole damn world is just as obsessed
With who's the best dressed and who's having sex,
Who's in the clubs and who's on the drugs,
Who's throwing up before they digest
And you still don't have the right look
And you don't have the right friends
And you're still listen to the same **** you did back then
High school never ends

High school never ends

The whole damn world is just as obsessed
With who's the best dressed and who's having sex,
Who's got the money, who gets the honeys,
Who's kinda cute and who's just a mess
And I still don't have the right look
And I still have the same three friends
And I'm pretty much the same as I was back then
High school never ends

High school never ends

High school never ends

Here we go again

Riding On The Back (Francis Dunnery)

Molly came home from work and found her cat dead
She suddenly realized she wanted a dog instead
She dashed down to the kennel and bought herself a puppy
And on that first walkies she ran across a yuppie
His name was Steven, he was very clean shaven and patient
Just the type of guy to help her build the kinda life
That she's been craving
And still to this day, coincidence is all the rage!

I'm riding on the back of a giant bird
Bigger than you, bigger than me
On the west side of your memory
The scent that sings your pot poure?
The flour in your bakery

Johnny and Rita had a real thing going on
Johnny shows Rita to his best friend called Bobbie
Who freaks over Rita, she finds herself smitten
With Bobbie's commitment to old fashioned values
So they run off together, it's a match made in heaven
She is a painter and he is a turpentine seller
Just the kind of love to make a lonely man
And lonely woman better
And still to this day coincidence is all the rage!

I'm riding on the back of a giant bird
Bigger than you, bigger than me
It's the fight in your artillery
The painting in your gallery
The food in your delivery

I don't want to break your heart in two
There's just one thing I'd like you to try
Don't let science take your wings away
You can live tomorrow from today

Frankie got out of school and found himself dead
Instead of a diploma they gave him some white bread
And Graham was in Chicago in a middle class home
Destined for marriage and a lock on his bone
And Johnny was Italian and it was meant to be
All kinds of stupid till he moved to New York City
Just the type of town to help create
The type of music that's free

I'm riding on the back of a giant bird
Bigger than you, bigger than me
Bigger than all history

Desperately Wanting

By Better Than Ezra

"Past the road to your house, that you never called home.
Where they turned out your lights.
Though they say you'll never know.

I remember runnin' through the wet grass, fallin' a step behind.
Both of us never tiring, Desperately Wanting.

When they pumped out your guts, filled you full of those blues,
You would never cry out...
Deserve to know the Truth.
They say the worst is over,
Kicked it over and ran.
Then they ask what went wrong when they turned you on again, when they turned you on again.

I remember runnin' through the wet grass fallin' a step behind.
Both of us never tirin', Desperately Wanting.

Kick 'em right in the face, make them wish they weren't born.
And if they bring up your name,
Well they'll say you won the war,
To any person in the world, never given a chance.
Then they ask what went wrong?
Well you never had it right, no you never had it right.

I remember runnin' through the wet grass fallin' a step behind, both of us never tirin', Desperately Wanting.

Oh the letters I dropped off, though they say you got them all.
Finally figured out some things you'll never know.
Take back your life, let me inside.
We'll find the door, if you care, if you care to anymore.

I remember runnin' through the wet grass, fallin' a step behind.
Both of us never tirin', Desperately Wanting."

You're the First, the Last, My Everything ~ Barry White

Post by SETIsLady » 10-06-2007 10:02 PM

We got it together, didn't we?
Nobody but you and me.
We got it together, baby.

My first, my last, my everything,
And the answer to all my dreams.
You're my sun, my moon, my guiding star.
My kind of wonderful, that's what you are.

I know there's only, only one like you
There's no way they could have made two.
You're, you're all I'm living for
Your love I'll keep for evermore.
You're the first, my last, my everything.

In you I've found so many things,
A love so new, only you could bring.
Can't you see if you,
You'll make me feel this way,
You're like a first morning dew on a brand new day.

I see so many ways that I can love you,
'Till the day I die....
You're my reality, yet I'm lost in a dream.
You're my first, my last, my everything.

I know there's only one, only one like you
There's no way they could have made two.
Babe, you're my reality.
But I'm lost in a dream,
You're the first, you're the last, my everything.

Motorhead

The Ace of Spades

If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man
You win some, lose some, it's -all- the same to me
The pleasure is to play, it makes no difference what you say
I don't share your greed, the only card I need is
The Ace Of Spades
The Ace Of Spades

Playing for the high one, dancing with the devil,
Going with the flow, it's all a game to me,
Seven or Eleven, snake eyes watching you,
Double up or quit, double stake or split,
The Ace Of Spades
The Ace Of Spades

You know I'm born to lose, and gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby,
I don't wanna live for ever,
And don't forget the joker!

Pushing up the entity, I know you've got to see me,
Read 'em and weep, the dead man's hand again,
I see it in your eyes, take one look and die,
The only thing you see, you know it's gonna be,
The Ace Of Spades
The Ace Of Spades
Life is short drink good coffee.

In Loving Memory of "Dazey-Dog"

Post by Glop » 10-09-2007 12:47 AM

Neil Young wrote this song about his dog 'Elvis'. I had to put my 15 year-old puppy-dog to sleep yesturday, my best friend and shadow-companion has broken my heart. She was a fantastic animal and the best doggie ever.

Goodbye Dazey, you are sorely missed.

Dazey-Dog

'Old King' - Neil Young

I had a dog and his name was King
I told the dog about everything
There in my truck the dog and I
Then one day the King up and died

Then I thought about the times we had
Once when I kicked him when he was bad
Old King sure meant a lot to me
But that hound dog is history

King went a-runnin' after dear
Wasn't scared of jumpin' off the truck in high gear
King went a-sniffin' and he would go
Was the best old hound dog I ever did know

That old King was a friend of mine
Never knew a dog that was half as fine
I may find one, you never do know
'Cause I still got a long way to go

I had a dog and his name was King
I told the dog about everything
Old King sure meant a lot to me
But that hound dog is history

King went a-howlin' after deer
Wasn't scared of jumpin' off the truck in high gear
King went a-sniffin' and he would go
Was the best old hound dog I ever did know

Mark Wills - 19-Something

I saw Star Wars at least 8 times
Had the pac-man pattern memorized
And I've seen the stuff they put inside
Stretch Armstrong

I was Roger Stauback back in my back yard
Had a shoebox full of baseball cards
And a couple of Evil Kinevil scars
On my right arm
Well, I was a kid when Elvis died
And my mama cried

Chorus:
It was 1970- something
In the world that I grew up in
Farrah Faucett hair-do days
Bell bottoms and 8-track tapes
Lookin' back now I can see me
And oh, man did I look cheesy
But I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
It was 1970-something

It was the dawning of a new decade
When we got our first microwave
And Dad broke down and finally shaved
Those sideburns off
I took the stickers off of my Rubix cube
Watched MTV all afternoon
My first love was Daisy Duke
In them cut off jeans
A Space Shuttle fell out of the sky
And the whole world cried

Chorus:
It was 1980-something
In the world that I grew up in
Skating rinks and Black Trans Ams
Big hair and parachute pants
Lookin' back now I can see me
And oh, man did I look cheesy
But I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
It was 1980-something

Now I got a mortgage and an SUV
But all this responsibility
Makes me wish sometimes
Sometimes....

chorus:
It was 1980-something
In the world that I grew up in
Skating rinks and Black Trans Ams
Big hair and parachute pants
Lookin' back now I can see me
And oh, man did I look cheesy
But I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
It was 1980-something

1970-something
Aw, it was 19-Something

GIMME SOME TRUTH

Post by HurricaneJoanie » 10-14-2007 12:56 PM

I'm sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics;
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth.

I've had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians;
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth.

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky's
Gonna mother-hubbard-soft-soap me
With just a pocketful of soap,
Money for dope
Money for rope.

I'm sick to death of seeing things
From tight-lipped, condescending, mama's little chauvinists;
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth, now.

I've had enough of watching scenes
Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas;
All I want is the truth, now
Just gimme some truth.

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky-dicky's
Gonna mother-hubbard-soft-soap me
With just a pocketful of soap;
It's money for dope
Money for rope.

Ah, I'm sick and tired of hearing things
from uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites;
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now.

I've had enough of reading things
by neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians;
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now,
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now,
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth.

Rollins Band
Shine

if I'd listened everything that they said to me, I wouldn't be here!
and if I took the time to bleed from
all the tiny little arrows shot my way,
I wouldn't be here!
the ones who don't do anything are always
the ones who try to put you down
and you could spend your entire life walking around
in the nowhere land of self doubt

'coz when you start to doubt yourself the real world will eat you alive!
it's time, it's time to align your body with your mind, it's hero time
it's time, it's time to align your body with your mind, it's hero time
'coz when you start to doubt yourself the real world will eat you alive!
and you know it's true!
I'm talking to you: hero time starts right now! Yeah, hero time, yeah,
time to shine, hey, hero time!

if ya think you've got 100 years to mess around: you're wrong!
this time it's real, y o u r t i m e i s n o w . . . it's hero time!
Yeah, hero time, hey, time to shine, yeah, hero time, yeah!

hard times are gettin' harder, the liars are acting strong
you better get a grip on yourself or you won't be around too long
it's hero time, hey, time to shine, yeah,
hero time, yeah, hero time, yeah!
it's hero time, it's hero time, time to shine, shine, shine, shine, shine!
oh yeah! (X3)

no such thing as spare time, no such thing as free time
no such thing as down time
all you got is life time... go! 'coz it's hero time, 'coz it's time to
shine
'coz it's time to go, go, go! yeah, hou!

when you're gone, you're so gone (X2)
you've got it now, it's time to go
hero time starts right now! yeah, aha..! ...change it!

I got grace in times of friction, I got truth in times of fiction
I've got no time for the hype... suicide!? I'm not that type...
I got no time for drug addiction, no time for smoke and booze
too strong for a shortened life span, I've got no time to lose!
It's time to shine, yeah, it's hero time, yeah, it's hero time, yeah,
yeah!

when you start to doubt yourself the
real world will eat you alive! yeah!
you could spend your entire walking
around, coward: or you can get up!
get up, get up, get up, get up! it's time to shine! yeah...

SIGNS - Tesla (Originally by The Five Man Electrical Band)

Post by Riddick » 10-14-2007 05:58 PM

Image

And the sign said "Long-haired freaky people need not apply"
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said "You look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do"
So I took off my hat, I said "Imagine that. Huh! Me workin' for you!"
Whoa-oh-oh

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?

And the sign said anybody caught trespassin' would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and-a yelled at the house, "Hey! What gives you the right?
To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in
If God was here he'd tell you to your face, Man, you're some kinda sinner"

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?

Now, hey you, mister, can't you read?
You've got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat
You can't even watch, no you can't eat
You ain't supposed to be here
The sign said you got to have a membership card to get inside
- Uh!

And the sign said, "Everybody welcome. Come in, kneel down and pray"
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all, I didn't have a penny to pay
So I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said, "Thank you, Lord, for thinkin' 'bout me. I'm alive and doin' fine."
Wooo!

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Sign
Sign, sign
