The Sound Of Silence ~ Simon And Garfunkel

Hello darkness, my old friend,
Ive come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of
A neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

Fools said i,you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you.
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon God they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the signs said, the words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls.
And whispered in the sounds of silence.

~~~~~What A Wonderul World~~~~~
by Louis Armstrong
I see trees of green........ red roses too
I see em bloom..... for me and for you
And I think to myself.... what a wonderful world.
I see skies of blue..... clouds of white
Bright blessed days....dark sacred nights
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world.
The colors of a rainbow.....so pretty ..in the sky
Are also on the faces.....of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands.....sayin.. how do you do
Theyre really sayin......i love you.
I hear babies cry...... I watch them grow
Theyll learn much more.....than Ill never know
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world
(instrumental break)
The colors of a rainbow.....so pretty ..in the sky
Are there on the faces.....of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands.....sayin.. how do you do
Theyre really sayin...*spoken*(I ....love....you).
I hear babies cry...... I watch them grow
*spoken*(you know their gonna learn
A whole lot more than Ill never know)
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself .......what a wonderful world
All Over The World ~ ELO
Post by SETIsLady » 11-22-2007 03:02 PM
Everybody all around the world, gotta tell you what I just heard
There's gonna be a party all over the world
I got a message on the radio, but where it came from I don't really know
And I heard these voices calling all over the world
Everybody everywhere is gonna feel tonight
Everybody walkin' down the street, everybody movin' to the beat
They're gonna get hot down in the U.S.A. (New York, Detroit, L.A.)
We're gonna take a trip across the sea, everybody come along with me
We're gonna hit the night down in gay Pareee
London, Hamburg, Paris, Rome, Rio, Hong Kong, Tokyo
L.A., New York, Amsterdam, Monte Carlo, Shard End
Everybody all around the world, gotta tell you what I just heard
Everybody walkin' down the street, I know a place where we all can meet
Everybody gonna have a good time, everybody will shine till the daylight
l over the world, everybody got the word
Waiting On The World To Change - John Mayer
Post by SETIsLady » 11-25-2007 09:56 PM
Me and all my friends
We're all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There's no way we ever could
Now we see everything is going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it
So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
It’s hard to beat the system
When we're standing at a distance
So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
When you trust your television
What you get is what you got
‘Cuz’ when they own the information ooohhh,
They can bend it all they want
So while we're waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
It's not that we don't care
We just know that the fight ain't fair
So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
(Guitar solo)
We're still waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
One day our generation
Is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Know we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
For What It's Worth ~ Buffalo Springfield
Post by SETIsLady » 11-28-2007 09:44 AM
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Well, a good babysitter can be hard to find
Reno
But I've got Reno on my little mind
Reno
Sometimes it drives me wild the way we can't be alone
Reno Reno Reno
I've gotta take her somewhere where we can't be found
Reno Reno Reno
That's right Reno Reno Reno Honey
Reno Reno Reno
Maybe see Charo or maybe Tom Jones
Reno Reno Reno
Well, I don't know who's there I just wanna get goin'
Reno Reno Reno
Well did I make reservations? Well, no.
Reno Reno Reno
But I don't want to call, I just want to go
Reno Reno Reno
That's right Reno Reno Reno Honey
Reno Reno Reno
Me and her are gonna laugh and laugh
Me and her are gonna have big fun
Just like kids on a school vacation
Down the street we'll run
And I'd like to tell you more but I got to rush
I still love the girl with a school boy crush
Reno Reno Reno Honey
Reno Reno Reno
Reno Reno Reno Honey
Reno Reno Reno
Find a motel with a velvet bed
Reno Reno Reno
Well the velvet walls are painted chrimson red
Reno Reno Reno
Well find a little lounge open night and day
Reno Reno Reno
Where the FBI meets the CIA
Reno Reno Reno
That's right Reno Reno Reno Honey
Reno Reno Reno
Lonely mountains left and right
Reno Reno Reno
And then there's Reno, a blazing light
Reno Reno Reno
Lonely hills of Nevada sage
Reno Reno Reno
And then there's Reno, center stage
Reno Reno Reno
That's right Reno Reno Reno Honey
Reno Reno Reno
Me and her are gonna have big fun
Me and her are gonna laugh and laugh
Call the babysitter from the hotel room
Tell we'll be back about the third of June
And I'd like to tell more but I've got to go
Still can't find that (?)
Reno Reno Reno Honey
Reno Reno Reno
What's that Reno Reno Reno Honey
Reno Reno Reno
Oh well I'd like to tell you more but time's getting tight
The days gotten old and here comes the night
Reno Reno Reno Honey
Reno Reno Reno
Oh and I still love the girl with a flame that burns
She's played with the kids and now it's my turn
Reno Reno Reno Honey
Reno Reno Reno
Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It don't matter, anyhow
An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on
Don't think twice, it's all right
It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
That light I never knowed
An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road
Still I wish there was somethin' you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talkin' anyway
So don't think twice, it's all right ....
Revolution ~ The Beatles
You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money
for people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
Ah
ah, ah, ah, ah, ah...
You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free you mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
all right, all right, all right
all right, all right, all right
When a knight won his spurs in the stories of old,
He was gentle and brave, he was gallant and bold.
With a shield on his arm and a lance in his hand,
For God and for valour he rode through the land.
No charger have I and no sword by my side,
Yet still to adventure and battle I ride,
Though back into storyland giants have fled,
And the knights are no more, and the dragons are dead.
So let faith be my shield, and let hope be my steed
Against the dragons of anger, the ogres of greed.
And let me set free with the sword of my youth
From the castle of darkness the power of truth.
I simply cannot get these incredible kids out of my head after hearing them for the first time last night.... :D
And check out this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ8EGg-0lYc
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not dead. I do not sleep.
Their version of the old English hymn, Abide with Me, dedicated to the memory of a girl named Christina who died at Auschwitz on 18 May 1943 and who is remembered to history only through a single photo, her eyes filled with fear, is incredibly moving...
Much of the excellence of this choir rests upon the very high quality of the material that they perform. The Brits have always been known for their sense of quality --- after all, they have Shakespeare and Milton --- and quality always tells in the end. We in Amerika have yet to learn this truth, but we will, we will...
I hope that, one day, Libera does an album of Shakespearean sonnets and songs. That would be something exquisite...
Oh, Joe...the Holocaust has been heavily on my mind for days...and the photo, music is crushing. I am so angry with God for allowing that unspeakable tragedy. I see the little girl's name was "Krystyna" -- let's honor her with that spelling. If only we could go back in time...if only....
The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path
The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forbodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'till I'm sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
"I can't think of anything to say except...
I think it's marvellous! HaHaHa!"
Sadly this is a song for our times. o:(
Bad Moon Rising by
Creedence Clearwater Revival
I see the bad moon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin.
I see bad times today.
Chorus:
Dont go around tonight,
Well, its bound to take your life,
Theres a bad moon on the rise.
I hear hurricanes ablowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.
Chorus
All right!
Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like were in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.
