Personal milestone
4 seasons ago I got my present ride and although it has changed slightly with upgrades I'm surprised it survived this long.
I have 35Km to go, which I'll surpass tonight no problem, and my bike will have 10,000Km on it.

Odds are we crossed paths, so to speak.
My 10,000Km actually pales in comparison to the true hardcore cyclists who go year-round. I had a cycling accident back in 1990 that resulted in a full separation of my shoulder that has never fully recovered.
The only thing that hates the cold more than I do is my shoulder, so I no longer ride in the Winter months.
One year when I did go year round I clocked over 12,000Km.

If memory serves Linnea, I pretty sure I'm on my 5th set of rubber.
I run slicks. The rear always wears out quicker so when it does I rotate the front to the back. At least I did up to last season. My rear tire now is 1/4" wider than the front to give me a little extra traction when its damp.
Stopping quick when its wet, especially with dual suspension, is almost impossible as your weight shifts forward and the back starts to float. Slicks make it worse when its wet, but the brought my average speed up 10 Km/h over knobbies and they are much quieter.
And these tires are $80 each.

Whoa. That's some bicycling.
Let me guess - your computer is zip tied to a stationary exercise bike as well, so even as you read this you're cranking away the km?
Nice job, MM.

For if it profit, none dare call it Treason.
I think that megman should be arrested as a terrorist who threatens all decent and respectable bourgeois people! His anti-auto attitudes undermine the socio-economic foundations of our entire society and are a menace to us all! What the hell? Don't even bother to arrest him! Just hang him from the local lamp post, shoot his twitching body full of arrows, set his pincushioned carcass on fire, and leave it dangling there as a warning to evil-doers everywhere!
Let's get the economy rolling again, folks! Kill megman and all who think like him! Isn't that a good place to start, no?
