John Lennon's 70th Birthday Today

Post by Joolz » 10-08-2010 07:14 PM

Just posting to say go to Google TODAY and click on their stylized logo honoring John. I think Lennon fans will appreciate what happens when you do that. :)

It's wonderful, Joolz. I just happened to hit their home page today (really never go there), but it was no accident. :) Made me feel very still and contemplative. And happy. He would've loved that. He would've been addicted to the Internet.

Make sure you go to the Imagine Peace Tower site and "watch the lighting live with us at 8pm in Reykjavík = 9pm in UK = 4pm in NY= 1pm in LA = 5am in Japan." Send a tweet, too.
"Last night I had a Peace Dream. You know how real dreams can be. The world was a better place, for you and me, Can't you see? . . . And just like John Lennon said, In Amsterdam from his bed, one day the world will wake up to see the reality...." ~ Ringo Starr

You left us too soon, Johnny.
Happy Birthday and thank you for making the world a better place.

Thanks for the posts and links, Janus and Joanie. :)

Joanie, I remember visiting the Peace Tower site last year, too. Thanks for reminding me of it, and for posting the times and link to the site. The video there this year is wonderful!

And yes, I agree. John would've loved the internet. :)

John... I'm missing you in these wee small hours of the morning. Remembering you and missing you... I hope wherever you are you can feel all this love we're pouring out to you. Bless you for being YOU and for sharing your heart with us. Your message resonates still. After all these years, I still carry your torch...

Don't forget to go to the Imagine Peace website to watch the re-lighting of the Imagine Peace Tower LIVE! It will be happening soon. (Link is in Joanie's post above.)

ETA: Yoko has asked for a million Tweets for Peace in honor of John, too. If you have a Twitter account, you can tweet your wishes to @IPTower. (There's a form for this embedded at the site.)

 :) :(

In addition, the stars are amazing.

Oh Jooz -- you went to Iceland? Fantastic.

I've been to the mosaic in Central Park, but it was two years after-the-fact and much too painful. :(

Today is my wedding anniversary so I am remembering two men named John, who both died too soon, with love and and also with tears.

No, I wish! I just watched live on the website you linked. There was a webcam there showing it live as she re-lit the light tower. It was very beautiful! It still is. You can see it there now.

Ah, okay -- you went to the Website! Well, virtually is as good as being there these days. "In spirit" is the real thing to those of us who believe. :)

Rod and I drove over to Hollywood to be a small part of the celebration of his birthday. He was such a special part of our youth.
