I haven't changed much since the early 70's. In my thinking anyway. I loved it.

I gotta go 60s although I wasn't around, probably why I like it, it seems... hmm... easier?

I think I'm a "NOW" person. In the sixties I was living life, looking forward to the future.

In the seventies, I went through an ugly divorce and the loss of a child.

In the eighties I was dabbling in lots of different things - writing, singing, and learning about the stock market.

In the nineties I fell in love again and retired to a calmer, more simple life.

In the first decade of this century I began looking at the world with (finally) a more grown-up point of view, and finally realized that what goes on in Washington really does matter, as does the welfare and freedom of everyone else in this country. That's why I became a Democrat.

No time like the present..

This is the best time because we can do something about the now..in theory - that other stuff is in the books.

Dude111, you are saying that you've seen a 50" or bigger screen plasma tv showing a blu-ray and you think VHS is better..I need to check this because I think this is what you said. Both of these technologies are at least 3-4 years old too..todays TV is 3D capable, gets on the internet and can do over 4000p resolutions producing images that look more like windows to reality than video screens.

It's good you like the old stuff..I do too, but old tech to me is an oxymoron.

You are entitled to like what you want, but you could post 50 links to articles stating your thesis and my eyeballs would disagree every time. So would my utility bill, that has to fund the analog set's electrical draw plus some extra AC to compensate for its tube heater and other components warming my room. And then there's the weight difference. Pick up a 50 inch LCD tv - yes, one man can easily move these giants..now try to pick up and move a grainy looking 30' crt set.. Don't really do it because you will hurt yourself and the set when you drop it.

BTW, did you notice the date on that article you referenced? Find me something from this decade, written since 2010, that backs this up. One that's not from some spammy, unknown site too would be nice. This isn't the best but plenty of references and lots of facts.

And change your default search engine from alta vista or whatever retro search site you use to come up with these ancient links you post and start using Google, Bing or Yahoo. You will be in the purview of big brother, lol, but you will get results with less spammy, more current sites.

A lot of old is better than the new, Dude111..I totally agree with you there..but not technology like TV screens that are being improved every day. CRTs belong in the lab, not in your home. No need for them anymore.

BTW, I worked at Zenith Television for over 10 years when it was located here in Springfield - till they moved offshore. I'm not an engineer by any means, but I know something of what I speak and have been well exposed to CRT as well as VHS technology. In fact, you being a lover of CRT TVs, I'd be willing to bet a flagon of rum that you own a Zenith or three. If not, then you lose a bit more cred with me.

i voted early 80s. though any time from early 80s to early 90s is good.

i feel like since the late 90s pop culture and society has sort of gained a mean streak - you see it with TV shows like South Park and how kids are constantly calling each other retards and stuff like that. though hopefully that's in decline a bit.

If I had to pick my favorite decade, it would be the '60s. It was the decade I graduated from high school, gained my Freedom Wings and came to California to begin a whole new life. (No more living in the 1910 - 1920 lifestyle) I learned to drive, got my first job, my first car, my first apartment, my first bank account, turned 21, had my first rock band gigs... Ah, those were the days, my friends. I was young, looked young, FELT invincible, spent lots of time at the SoCal beaches and night clubs... Learned how to survive & thrive on my own, away from the judgements of small town gossip, Bible Belt criticisms, and expectations of becoming just a housewife and mother! Plus, the music was so wonderful. I went to my 50th High School class reunion last September, and there wasn't a single person there who still doesn't remember how lucky we were to be alive then. We were the first class of Baby Boomers! And, our class had the distinctive reputation for having retired every teacher we ever had, growing up from grade school through high school. Some of them (believe it or not!) were still alive and ambulatory enough to come to the 50th reunion.
