Religious Question
If there were to be only ONE religion (or atheism) followed by the entire world, and you had to pick it, what religion would you choose, and why do you believe it would be best for the entire world?
We must, indeed, all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately. B. Franklin

I would chose no religion, but just the love and wonder for the wondrous source that gave us free will and life.

Perhaps majda means spirituality without the trappings of religion. Religion requires an organized set of beliefs. It's not possible to be religious in the true sense without being spiritual, but one can be spiritual without being religious.
I do not think that, at the present time, there is one religion that would be best for the entire world. Unless there was one world culture, no one religion could possibly satisfy all the peoples of the entire world. And if it did, it would be a very boring world to live in. No diversity. A homogenized world culture. blech

I'm with Joolz on this one.
I have yet to find any religion that I can say " yeah, this is the one". I doubt I ever will. They all have good points and not so good points.

I agree. Thank you.majda wrote: I would chose no religion, but just the love and wonder for the wondrous source that gave us free will and life.
Religion is a construct attempting to define and organize spirituality. It is best for humans to stick to organizing commerce, or barn building.
Thanks Joolz, for the elegant clarification.
Hi Jon!

Iris if there were a one world religion who would they go to war with, isn't that what religion is all about, killing, war and control. If all these religions didn't teach us the only way to salvation is through them there wouldn't be a problem. We don't need it, than we wouldn't have them teaching us hate.
Iris, you are asking an unanwerable question. Think of the wars throughout history that are caused by religious differences. Think of the hatred engendered by organized religion. If one person had the power and the stupidity to issue a one religion fits all edict, the final war would ensue.
No one has given a direct answer to your question because no one can.
You are a very wise lady and I suspect that is exactly the point you wish to prove.

I think Sam has the right of it here. A person of faith would choose their faith as the best if pressed to do so. Those who follow no defined faith would find the question unanswerable, as Bell has suggested, as they haven't even chosen one for themselves, let alone the whole world. I will ask, along with Bell, was this your point, Iris? That the question can't be answered satisfactorily because there is no one best religion for the entire world? If not, then what would you answer? I find that I can't give an answer to this. The best answer I've seen is the one word answer: "Imagine..."

I bet He can't even answer that one..
...or it would go unasked.
