Pope Benedict XVI's ' Letter To Current Pope Francis

Post by Doka » 04-23-2019 12:54 PM

Is Pope Benedict XVI's 'Absence of God' Letter Driving a Schism in the Catholic Church?

On April 10, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI published a 6,000-word essay on the priestly sexual abuse scandal that traced the issue back to the Sexual Revolution and the absence of God. German theologians have accused Benedict of causing a "schism," and not without reason.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger became Pope Benedict XVI in 2005 and resigned from the office in 2013, becoming the first pope in nearly 600 years to do so. Since the pope is considered infallible when speaking ex-cathedra on matters of faith and morals, a resignation is particularly noteworthy. Given the Catholic Church's history of having multiple popes at the same time, Benedict's decision to address this issue may make it seem as though he is challenging Pope Francis for the leadership of the church.

Ironically, Benedict's letter -- which condemned the view that the Catholic Church is "just some kind of political apparatus" -- is extremely interesting in political terms. Rather than signing off with his given name, Joseph Ratzinger, the pope emeritus signed off with his baptized name Benedict XVI, as if he were still pope. However, at the beginning and the end, Benedict referred to Pope Francis as "the Holy Father" and explicitly thanked him at the end of his essay.

The other Pope(Benedict) is totally correct about the Church being torn apart by by Pope Francis's, obvious political agenda.

But then, something I have never understood, and have come to the conclusion, that IT maybe "Catholic Thing",
He ends his scathing letter by signing off...."Benedict referred to Pope Francis as "the Holy Father" and explicitly thanked him at the end of his essay.(letter)?

Translation: Dear Current Pope, You are destroying the Church, Love, Kisses, Thank You, Much Respect, The other Pope.

Giving the meaning of "Double Entendre " (Forked tongue)a new life! It's like the guy whose house was set on fire, saying love and respect to the arsonest. ?

The idea of looking for the good parts of the devil(Evil), is totally Sick.! AND as STUPID as it looks.

Yeah Doka, for what it's worth, none of us Catholics can figure this out (Francis and Benedict). BUT, this is not the first time the Roman Catholic Church has had more than one pope - it's happened a few times,

But, as far as the sex abuse issue - first of all, I just don't get it. Who in their right mind finds kids appealing sexually anyway? But, it is not, as much as the Catholic-detractors want to make it, solely a "Catholic thing". Sure, its gotten the most press, but, pick a denomination - ALL of them: Protestants (of their various degrees of wanna-be Catholics extractions) had their episodes, to Orthodox Jews. Some religions allow for genital mutilation of young women and girls, and some Islamic allow for honor killing and female slavery.

And, it doesn't stop there - look at the Dept of Education and their scandals with teachers going after their students, which is becoming a growing issue. And, how about the American gymnastic teams and their doctors at Michigan copping a feel on the young female gymnasts? And, all the while the fine folks in Michigan looked the other way - heck "there's gold in the thar Olympic medals", right????

And, what about some cultures here in the good ol' US of A that allow for marrying their younger than 18 year-old girls to old guys who are old enough to be their fathers? How fricking weird is THAT????? But, back in the land that brought us Deliverance, it's OK - encouraged even. And, they certainly aren't Catholics. And, they've been doing it for generations........

Of course, social media makes things a LOT easier Doka. They had a story on the news tonight on a Boston station about some idiot who pawned his cell phone and a woman at the pawn shop ran through the phone and found all kinds of kiddie porn loaded on the device. Some kid were two years old.........There are all kinds of sick people out there Doka. I've given up on trying to figure out what makes society tick anymore.

As far as the latest dust up at the Vatican - I've stopped trying to figure that out as well. I'm imperfect and I know that I have a world of faults that I need to address, and that keeps me busy enough to stop worrying about what other "higher-ups" do. The way I look at it, if I worry too much about it, it'll just make me crazy. As it is, I'm trying to help my wife recover from her total knee replacement three weeks back, and now rehab. She's turning 66 on Saturday and it's been a rough enough year for her.

Stuff like the dueling Popes is, for me, a distraction not worth getting to worked up about. The world is full of crazy people Doka, especially around here......... Every single day we hear stories about sex abuse (and not al of it having a thing to do with any religion - purely secular....) and I don't know whether on some level we are becoming immune to the shock, or SO shocked that we're on overload......

I saw a story tonight on the national news about some idiot who broke into a woman's home, chased her down the road an stabbed her repeatedly for no reason except that he was a freakin' loon........ And, the best part is, he'll probably get off for being a nut....... That's our society for ya Doka. USA, USA, USA!!!!!!!!!

If the USA is so bad for you, I really suggest you Move. But ! I can guarentee what you are going to find. A whole world of unhappy, corrupted, pitiful humans , with the same mind bent. Never taking the time to be greatful for what they Do Have or for where they live, how they live! "Oh Woe Is Me!" It seems That when your "gods of discontent" sow their mind numbing Propaganda, there is a whole bunch of pitiful humans, fighting to be first in line, to drink from the cup of "Insatiable Lack" .

You are not the only one that is Tired, sick and burnt out, in pain, nor the last. When one's "Attitude" stinks, you become stinky and hopeless. Stop listening, watching the hateful crap you are into. Find at least one good , positive thing a day, that you may have been overlooking, for instance did someone smile back at you, when you smiled at them, That's huge you know and very positive, it's a start on a personal journey that only you can have or not.

I have to tell you my life is FULL of Serendipity, but you have to become aware, to know what it is or you'll crap on it every time. I also know you won't read this, it's not "good enough" for you.

Perplexing Ponderings

Post by Riddick » 04-25-2019 03:36 PM

If the USA's so awful why are there caravans of folks coming to our southern border clamoring to get in?

Talking misled, seems whoever coined the phrase 'Two heads are better than one' didn't consider popes.

Oh geez......... "sarcasm" people.

Look, we ALL have things we can't stand, right? Lord knows that there are issues about certain elements of American that you can't stand. We all know that - and NEVER have I said "move" to either of you.

It's called a difference of opinion - but I guess that that's something else that's going the way of the dinosaur in our new paradigm.

I didn't say boo about moving 'ceptin' those folks at the border, they want to move in, guess the US of A's not so bad they'd still wanna take up residence after all. I also heard it's a nice place to visit but I've lived here all my life so I wouldn't know

Anahoo, I've never thought of moving out of the country but that could change. I don't know where I'd go, but it wouldn't be where all the caravans are coming from -

Is that sarcasm? I'm a bit confused over the term. Oscar Wilde said it was the lowest form of wit but the highest form of intelligence. Smart as he was, comes to wry and dry humor I'm far from his league. But I do like to make observations & ask questions

In this instance, my pondering of perplexing behaviors were situation based, and not a knock against you personally kbot. No intense offended! - And that's not sarcasm. Image

Aside their bones I'd not say dinosaurs ARE entirely gone. Sinclair oil uses one as its mascot, y'know, a nod to their kind being fossil fuel fodder - As for DNA, NOT so far but HEY!?? [Entering Cheeky Mode] Maybe that's the 'alternative' ticket! Let's set our best scientists' sights ON bringing the dinos back, eh?

That's UP TO 11 Yabba Dabba Delusional. Still, who knows? Hizzoner wants it to be The Big Green Apple, reality getting in the way is not an option. Disagree? He'll seize your property. Now there's a reason to move while you still can. We get a Prez and Congress like him, could be time's come to pack my bags.

HA!!, Took awhile, but by George, I think I 'got it' kbot. Maybe it's what's in our water, or it's too much TV watching, or maybe it's the American way to be the best IN the world that's doing it? - A top class human behavior observer so much as says nobody does it better, who am I to disagree with G.C.! -

AND it explains a lot: To look where the far Left winds blow? One may well wonder why sanity isn't their rising stars' & lead performers' strong suits. Hey, it's no prereq! So why not GO all in the other way & make a carrier of it. Sad.

Sorry Kbot, I'm NOT the one who knocks my country, the place where I live and enjoy. If I have to , I can go back to post after post of yours where you are spouting nothing but hatred for the country you live in. Never having a suggestion to make things better, but endorsing those that certainly have the capacity to make life more traumatic, than it already is.

You don't Seem to have a personal connection to anything but a "label", I do try to understand, but I just get a head-ache. We truly have no values, or goals for the common good .........in common.

The above was not sarcasm , Just a response to what you have written.

A friend of mine and I were having a discussion a week back about politics, and the "common good" was among the topics. I told him my view of it, which ls a meeting of minds on issues where no one gets everything they want but folks still get enough of what they want to all agree on a solution in the end

His take? It's the maximum good for the greatest number of people. No agreement there, our talk went elsewhere. Next go, I'll ask him how his strident "Eat The Rich" approach is anything but unsustainable...

For" The Common Good" is what we have been enjoying here in the US for a long time now. There is no way to please every one, but we have had "Freedom of Speech" to bitch about it, and the Freedom to Change those things, that need to be changed, a slow process for sure, but, a process none the less. Freedom to make a self sufficient, living, go broke, get rich, or sit on your butt at 20 years old and go on the best Welfare System in the World, Free health care, food, schooling, supplimented or free housing, etc. But, NO ONE can leave each other alone! Many have been sensitized to their own needs and wants only and tought to hate when life fails them. We have been tuned up to judge on color of skin and not merit. Forced to swallow the idea of 20 different sexes, even though scientifically there really only 2 sexes(sometime 3, but rare)that love who they desire and are now free to do so. And the gods help you if you get rich ! And women who have turned themselves into monsters, just like the bully men, that they say they hate. Nothing makes these folks happy, the live in the land of never enough and that's ever bodies fault but their own. All demanding perfection, when None is being Offered. And Demand that we all go over Their Personal Cliff with them.

No, I don't want to go! But, If One Day I ever do contemplate suicide 1. For a Really Verifiable Reason. 2. I will NOT demand that everybody go with me!

Sorry that when I have issues when things are bad an voice an opinion Doka. We do have some good things that happen. This happened just today - a a filthy coal-fire power plant that has sicked literally millions across the northeast and Canada just got blown to smithereens because the technology is old and harmful. Even the company that owned it realized that.

What's replacing it? Wind power........
